Mashrur Hossain
Hi, I'm Mashrur, I'm a full-time programming instructor specializing in programming fundamentals, web application development, machine learning and cyber security. I have been a technology professional for over a decade and have degrees in Computer Science and Economics.
My niche is building comprehensive career focused technology courses for students entering new/complex and challenging fields in today's technology space. This is a nice segway for me, since my real passion is building and tinkering with programming languages. I love everything to do with development and learning about new tools and technologies. My favorite languages are Python and Ruby on Rails, and my favorite tech fields are web app development, machine learning and data-analytics (which is where Ruby on Rails and Python fall into place nicely). I encourage my students to focus on these technologies as well.
In my past (corporate) life, I worked with Enterprise Software Systems with roles played in analysis, development, management and training. I led projects using both agile and waterfall methodologies and thus am well versed in the inner workings of the software development and delivery world.

I like that I can progress at my own pace and knowing that the class is always available should I want to go back and review something. The instructor explains things well. Only thing is I wish that there was more feedback from the instructor and teaching assistants.

Good course for beginners with other language experience. The course for Ruby really got rolling for me around lecture 42. Yes, I had seen much of it before and actually done a few things with Ruby. However, the object oriented elements really clicked with decent examples and fine detail. All seemed good until the final project. The financial tools available have changed since the creation of this class and then again since the update to the lectures. This is very annoying. The stock_quote gem no longer supports a .history method. Please update the course. The Java and Python sections were not as strong as the Ruby, but are very good for beginners with drive to look things up on their own.

Title Master Ruby, Python and Java is slightly misleading. It should be Master Ruby and get absolute basics of Python and Java. As Python and Java are not nearly as well covered as Ruby. However I like the presentation style and I think overall it's a great course to get up to speed with three very popular languages. I would certainly recommend the course and instructor!

A better and useful example (he does as final project, an amortization calculator). I think he could do something more useful and more common. Also, into Python course, he jumps some stuffs (like getting input from user) saying that we should learn it by our self (as homework). Nothing against it, but if I buy a course saying that I'll LEARN ruby, java and python, I'm really expecting to LEARN.

He kept saying "lib" is that library? Please quit using so many abbreviations. OOP is that Object Oriented Programming? I'm not a genius, so Im going to go through the first lessons a few times.

I am about 10 videos in on the course. They are presented in small chunks with exercises to practice. I can squeeze the lessons into my day at work while still getting work done.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced programmer and are interested in developing a better foundation in Ruby, then this course is for you. I definitely recommend this course for that purpose. I say this because Mashrur has the amount of real world experience and education to help guide the budding Rubyist down the correct path to learning Ruby code the proper way. This includes cultivating real understanding of the language syntax and which syntax to use in a particular situation, in addition to a focus on best practices and conventionally accepted code styling for the benefit of other Rubyists who might look at your code. In addition, the exercises and projects are directly relevant to the associated lessons and do an excellent job at reinforcing the concepts. In all, I feel that I am on the correct path with Mashrur's course to becoming not only a Ruby on Rails developer, but a better developer overall.

I've been working on the Ruby section so far and I have to say that it's great. The content works its way up at an excellent pace, and offers great examples and assignments to really get your mind thinking. Looking forward to finishing the rest of it!

I'm a student programmer looking for a refresher in the summer -- fantastic course for this purpose! Great narrator, worth the money. He goes a little fast, so the pausing and rewinding can get mildly irritating, but the course is too good to let them be a major problem.
