Ruby on Rails 5 - BDD, RSpec and Capybara (Udemy.com)

When I am going to buy this course that time I thought that it will be in-detail explanation. But it is not. It’s hard to understand the basic concept for beginners. I want to clear my RSpec concept from base but there are no in-detail explanation like why we are using particular keywords, when we have to use, difference between all keywords. It feels like they are teaching pre-defined application. That can be done from anywhere on youtube or blogs for free then what is the benefit of buying this course. But still I highly appreciate the efforts and time for this. Please keep making good course to help out others. Best of luck.

This course covers a great amount of concepts when using Ruby on Rails. It highlights the use of behavior driven development and the use of web sockets. While it is very informative, the two projects cover the same material using two different apps. The first instructor has a very good presence while the second lost my attention before the first half of lessons.

Good course, liked the coverage so far and the explanations given. Wish tutor covered more about RSPEC and Capybara, so far it was pretty much a dive in. There is no explanation of why he chooses certain methods or practices. Would like to understand more the thought process behind the decisions he takes. Additionally while i had already experience with RSpec and capybara some of the coverage is new to me and I do not know where to even start looking for this info. It would be good to see what resources he uses and how he makes his choices based on the resources he shows.

Good course. I had a hard time finding good resources to teach me rails spec and testing, but I got a good start here, I believe. The rails content is pretty comprehensive and there are was some advanced code that I didn't know before, so that part was a plus as well. The instructor is very responsive to questions, which is helpful. One thing to keep in mind is that there is some code that is accidentally skipped in the video so it's good to check the Q&A since most people have had trouble with missing parts. The instructors use an web-based IDE, but I used a normal text editor, and that was not a problem.

The first part I award 5 stars, for the explanation, and motivation of coding different parts of the application. The second part I award 3 stars, for failing to do many of those steps; frequent pasting of code that interrupts learning flow, and less motivation/explanation why certain lines are being added. Thus, an average of 4.

The course was really good and the instructors were usually very fast in answering questions; to which i had many. I am a coding novice so i need the repetition of 'why' we are doing something as there is a TON of info and it is hard to remember everything. So i feel that the re-enforcement of previous lessons is strongly needed. That is my only complaint. thank you!

The best Rails course I ever took! The best thing about it is that it goes into detail about everything you see, instead of just writing code for you to copy. This course will definitely help anyone understand how to build and test rails apps.

I like the applications developed here and this has helped me with features and lot and BDD. But a missing star because i had hoped that the instructor could also show a few advanced ways of testing. like using let, factory_girl, structs, mocking and stubbing etc. But maybe I am overreaching and that case i do hope you create one for more advanced testing. That said I still have learnt quite a lot. Thank you for preparing this.

There are two instructors who have very different teaching styles. One has made sure that there are text files after each video summarizing the previous video lecture. The videos were also easy to follow. The second lecturer did not provide any text notes and I encountered several holes where I had to figure out why my tests were not showing the same results as the instructor's tests. On the upside, having to think along and figure out why things were not working as intended, does help one practice debugging code. I found that the instructors were a bit light on explaining why they were doing what they were doing. Other than that, the instructor was very quick to answer any questions and that is fantastic. In summary, it was definitely a great course for getting comfortable writing feature specs in rspec. I am happy with the course and the quality of the instructions.
