Great course! Loved the instructor's steady talking space as I was able to use the 1.5 speed and still understand everything. My only gripe is that I wouldn't call it a Master course, but a more than thorough introduction course. Overall I do feel like I have the tools needed to continue with grails, I was able to complete the course using grails 3.3.11 just fine, only a few places that needed updating to fit grails 3.

Its great, but nowadays there is no option to do it with eclipse GGTS becouse its unavailable to download, and if you get it by some way, you will get problems with the TLS protocol when downloading something from repositories. You must run GGTS with Java 1.8 to success. This course must be updated to something else than eclipse GGTS. I hoped to learn more about grails command line.

Pros: I liked that during the course we created a project from scratch and worked on this I liked that the course was simple and the tutor was very easy to follow and understnad Cons: I feel like there are much more to cover that were not covered. I did not much care about application deployment on the cloud but i would like some section for security and for spok framework. I would love to see grails plugins and what these are. i see them in index page on the left but have no idea what this is I would love to see about dependency management I would love to see how one can configure the application in terms of database, etc I would love some further information on transactions. I do not like it that it seems that transaction seems to be open all the time, i care no more about lazy/eager fetch etc? What about custom queries in database? What about comunication with other services like RestTemplate/feign client, etc? Overall nice course to get one started but can be used only as a starting point

A very good introductory course. I started with no great expectations but with the course of the course I was surprised with the didactics of the author and also the examples that, although simple, connect many important concepts in a clear and objective way. Congratulations. Greetings from Brazil.

Since this course covers the true basics of basics It gives a little taste of CRUD apps development. Ofcourse it doesn't show how to create a massive social media or whatever app, but it prepares an trainee to dive into the web development with Grails. Thanks, truly enjoyed the lessons. I feel lack of some topics like validation for example.

This tutorial is very detailed, and to the point, the course here is Grails and it was delivered quite effectively with no waste of time, in my humble opinion, these lectures and the Grails documentation have enough information for Grails enthusiast to get started on the subject matter without much fussing around. Note that the tutorial was delivered in Grails 2.3.x, as a result, a learner needs to go through the Grails 3.x documentation/user guide to keep abreast with the newer version.

it would be helpful to have snapshots of the grails-app folder at the end of each chapter. Particularly when you're writing something that just appears to be throw-away code (e.g. WhiteboardController) but contains methods the student will need at a future date. Some of the code does not work with later versions of Grails 2. The most notable is the save() methods that don't work but, instead, require save(flush: true). The duplication code in CalculationsService instead of calling the functions already performing those actions shows poor architecture.

I wanted an introduction to Grails and found this course really good. It's using Grails 2 with the Grove Grails Testing Suite, but I followed along with IntelliJ IDEA sticking to Grails 2 for the course. The audio and video wqas very clear, I ran the videos at 1.25x as that pace was good for me. Clear concise instructions and to the point. I will now start my own project in Grails 3 and use what I have learnt with my book Grails in Action which is in the post and get to work on a solution I have in mind to build. I do recommend this course to anyone wanted to get an intro into Groovy Grails. I would have given this 5 stars if we went into testing and config more and not worry about the deployment at the end, lets face it, at the end of this course you don't have a fully functional app ready to deploy, but config and testing is still questions I have. There is room for a follow up intermediate/adanced course on Grails for sure.

I had little to no idea what was involved in creating a Grails application. I though that this course took a good example of the simplest example of a real world application and explaining it step by step the intricate details involved. Now after following through the tutorials, I feel more confident in going forward building whatever web-application I would like to create
