Definitely, it is a course for advanced users of Power Query, already quite fluent with M programming without an involvement of UI. It appears the course creators assume the participants literacy in M language, and their ability to grasp additional explanations/knowledge from sources beyond the course itself. Functions like List.Generate or List.Accumulate - although used in some of the examples - are not walked through in the course. Nevertheless, the course is valuable due to its focus on M language only.

The course takes an unusual approach to teaching Power Query, as it skips the user interface - the Power Query Editor - and jumps straight into the Advanced Editor. This makes the learner accustomed to the M language right off the bat. I understand the confusion reading some of the comments rating this course low. It may not make much sense for someone seeing Power Query for the first time. Still, the approach taken by this course provider, which is using the M language directly without relying on the GUI, is actually very valuable, and something that is missing in most of the courses available on Udemy. I would advise taking an introductory Power BI/ Power Query course first and learning the functionality available through the user interface, then returning to this course to get proper exposure to scripting all functions directly in M. Only then will you appreciate advanced topics like recursion and custom functions.

The instructor spends a significant amount of time in each lecture setting up the data and then provides an example of the topic in a very simplistic manner with very little context. I am not new to Power Query / (some) M-code / Power BI and I was left confused more often than not. In my opinion, a newbie to Power Query / M-code would be hopelessly lost. I struggle to find a scenario where I'd be comfortable suggesting this course to anyone.

I'd not recommend this course to someone new to Power Query. However, if you have some knowledge of Power Query and want to learn more about the M language, then this is a decent course. Unfortunately, there are no downloadable files, and the instructor manually creates the sample data in each lesson, which wastes time. Section 14 onwards overlap with earlier sections (repeat of topics). Lastly, I'm not sure why John Bura is listed as one of the instructors.

Great content of course with lot of handy examples that may occur during work with M and Power Querry. Course consist with part one and two, second part is more complex. It could be highlighted bit more where first part ends and start next one, but still it course is great chance to see M language in action.

This course is not an intro to Power Query. It does not teach Power Query from the graphical user interface / no code perspective. Rather, it teaches Power Query using the advanced editor and the M language. For people familiar with Power Query, this is a great next step in your learning journey. However, new students to Power Query are probably best off taking a different course that is more introductory in nature.

This is definitely what I was looking for, a course that goes beyond the Power Query GUI and focuses on authoring custom M Code. It is not a beginner course, neither is it like other courses I've taken. The pace is extremely fast, and the first course I've had to slow down rather than speed up. It's more like dictation than training, nothing is really explained, merely narrated. I only made it to section 5 before I started to struggle and had to resort to YouTube for better explanations of the functions. This course is a good starting point for advance M, and really shows the art of the possible with so I'm satisfied with it.
