Course Description
SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a tool that we use to perform ETL operations; i.e. extract, transform and load data.
We will also sort out the various versions and name changes. For example, in SQL Server 2014 Microsoft decided to no longer include SQL Server Data Tools (Another Visual Studio shell for SSIS) as part of the normal install. This confused everyone. To make matters worse, you now download and install different tools depending on what you have already.
This course will provide you with a solid foundation of SQL Server Integration Services. We will cover everything from the designer to crafting high quality packages.
While ETL processing is common in data warehousing (DW) applications, SSIS is by no means limited to just Data warehousing approaches.
For example, when you create a Maintenance Plan using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) an SSIS package is created.
You'll learn all the vernacular associated with SSIS as well as all the core components.
We'll cover the package in detail. The package is the unit of work that is retrieved, executed, and saved.
At a high level, SSIS provides the ability to retrieve data from just about any source, perform transformations on data, covert data from one type to another, load data into just about any source and define complex workflows that move disparate data throughout any organization.
In this course you'll learn how to use SSIS to develop data integration, migration and consolation packages that you as a DBA or developer can use in any organization that has data.
In the course we will cover the integration with other SQL Server products like SSMS. SQL Server Management Studio provides the Integration Services service that you use to manage packages, monitor running packages, and determine impact and data lineage for Integration Services and SQL Server objects.
I look forward to seeing you in the course.

I'm the founder of LogikBot. I've worked at Microsoft and Uber. I helped design courses for Microsoft's Data Science Certifications. If you're interested in machine learning, I can help.
I've worked with databases for over two decades. I've worked for or consulted with over 50 different companies as a full time employee or consultant. Fortune 500 as well as several small to mid-size companies. Some include: Georgia Pacific, SunTrust, Reed Construction Data, Building Systems Design, NetCertainty, The Home Shopping Network, SwingVote, Atlanta Gas and Light and Northrup Grumman.
Over the last five years I've transitioned to the exciting world of applied machine learning. I'm excited to show you what I've learned and help you move into one of the single most important fields in this space.
Experience, education and passion
I learn something almost every day. I work with insanely smart people. I'm a voracious learner of all things SQL Server and I'm passionate about sharing what I've learned. My area of concentration is performance tuning. SQL Server is like an exotic sports car, it will run just fine in anyone's hands but put it in the hands of skilled tuner and it will perform like a race car.

Some exercises needed more rehearsal, instructor correcting his own mistakes is distracting for students. Also, he whizzed by some exercise components that several backups and replays were required to keep up with the exercise. Sample Excel file was not supplied. In Quiz 3, question 6, where so you go to change protection, the correct answer is Security under the project, not the package.

I've been doing some very limited packages with SSIS for about 1 yr now. This training has opened up many ideas how I could take them to the next level. I tried this training because I wanted to start a good base knowledge in SSIS using an American English speaker.

Very Good, and he has a great voice to learn from, but I would rather be a beginner taking this course than a Mid level. I think he gives enough info for a beginner but there isn't much for a person who has already gone through each utility.

Pro: Overall the course is good. In depth fundamental class. Great for beginners with some SQL background. The instructor is enthusiastic and has a great delivery. Con: Early on the instructor states that he is going to be using AdventureWorks2012; however, he ends up using AdventureWorks2014 for most the lesson plan. There is an excel file and a T-SQL statement missing from the resource data that accompanies this class.

The reason I left only 3 stars is because one important section is missing. That section or topic is how to handle errors. Other than that this course is quite good and gives reasonable information to get you going if you don't know anything about SSIS. Thank you.

Very good information, I did have to search for the answers to some problems that I had, but that is another part of the process to learn.

Very Good value for the money. . Annoying that loading adventureworks2012 is emphasized, and halfway through lesson 1, it changes to adventureworks2014, then in lesson 3. changes back to adventureworks2012. . Realize only an SSIS intro course, but more on package deployment would have been good. . Hadoop is in the task menu, and was never mentioned, when all the other tasks were.

Very helpful course, gave me good overview on how to use SSIS with some practical examples. Lectures were clear and concise and gave me good understanding of the subjects covered.

I wasn't able to get the adventure db, therefore, I spent alot of time creating my own data to complete with each section. Also, the Bulk.txt file wasn't provided. I think that having all the data required for the course is important. Maybe spend some time sharing with student where to get it and how to install/configure.
