Build MCP servers & clients in Python with Cursor, Claude Code & LangGraph—Docker, OAuth (Auth0) & Cloudflare deploy
Created by: Eden Marco
Last updated July 2026
What you will learn
- Explain MCP's host/client/server architecture, STDIO vs Streamable HTTP, and when to use Tools vs Resources vs Prompts
- Connect pre-built MCP servers to Claude Desktop, Cursor and Claude Code
- Build Python MCP servers with FastMCP that expose tools, resources and prompts
- Build an MCP client with the Python SDK + LangChain MCP adapters and run it inside a LangGraph agent
- Containerize an MCP server with Docker and lock down risky tools (live RCE and supply-chain demos)
- Deploy a remote, OAuth-protected MCP server with Auth0 and Cloudflare Workers
- Know MCP's limits: context bloat, security, and when Agent Skills or Code Mode fit better

Course Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence :)
Read this before you enroll
What this is: a hands-on MCP course for developers. You'll build a shell-tool server, Dockerize and secure it, wire an MCP client into a LangGraph agent, and deploy a remote OAuth-protected server on Cloudflare.
How I code: I build with AI-assisted coding in Cursor (indexed MCP docs + Cursor rules). This is the way most teams ship MCP servers today- then explain what the generated code does and where it breaks.
Depth: working, production-aware knowledge for practicioners: transports, primitives, security, auth, deployment. It is not a line-by-line tour of the MCP spec or its JSON-RPC messages.
Course map (paste after the block above)
Core (≈ 5h): Why MCP → Hello World with pre-built servers → Architecture & transports → Building, securing & Dockerizing a server → Building a client with LangGraph → Prompts & Resources → Multi-server clients (STDIO + SSE)
Optional deep-dive (≈ 1h20m, TypeScript): remote MCP server with OAuth 2.0 (Auth0) on Cloudflare Workers
Bonus (≈ 2.5h, watch any order): FastMCP with its creator, Sampling & Registry, MCP's drawbacks & Code Mode, Agent Skills vs MCP, security, industry interviews
Please note that this is not a course for beginners. This course assumes that you have a background in software engineering and are proficient in Python. I will be using Cursor IDE but you can use any editor you'd like since we only use basic feature of the IDE like debugging and running scripts .
Ideal students are software developers / data scientists
What is the Model Context Protocol?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open-source standard, introduced by Anthropic in 2024, that allows AI models to seamlessly connect with external data sources, tools, and software systems
Architecture Components
MCP Hosts: Programs like Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, or AI tools that want to access data through MCP
MCP Clients: Protocol clients that maintain 1:1 connections with servers (Content ETA April)
MCP Servers: Lightweight programs that each expose specific capabilities through the standardized Model Context Protocol
Local Data Sources: Your computer's files, databases, and services that MCP servers can securely access (Content ETA End of March)
Remote Services: External systems available over the internet (e.g., through APIs) that MCP servers can connect to
(Content ETA End of March)Authentication
Key Capabilities
Resources: Components that expose data and content from your servers to LLMs
Prompts: Functionality to create reusable prompt templates and workflows
Tools: Features that enable LLMs to perform actions through your server
Sampling: Capability that lets your servers request completions from LLMs
Transports: MCP's communication mechanism between clients and servers
Topic Covered:
MCP + Agent Security best practices
Containerizing MCP Servers
Protocol Flow
MCP + Docker
MCP + LangChain
OAuth 2.0 with MCP featuring Auth0
MCP Deployment (featuring Cloudflare)
A2A - Introduction to Agent 2 Agent Protocol
Not for you if:
You're new to Python or have never called an LLM API
You want a spec-level deep-dive into MCP's message format
You want all code typed by hand, without AI assistance
You only work in Java/.NET and don't read Python or TypeScript

Good content and clear instruction. I've learned a lot from this course. It may not go deep enough into some topics, but I understand that this course is mainly focused on the MCP. It gives me useful topics and keywords to explore further. Overall, I've gained the MCP knowledge I was looking for.

I learned many things about MCP by this course still I have not implemented some stuffs of mcp and some research is pending from my end but this course gave me overall knowledge of mcp in the working environment, which includes its security implications and threats

Great course overall! A few comments for improvement: - in many PoCs the big cursor was on the way making hard to read details - on 88, there was a mention of a demo at the end regarding how to use claude hooks and managed settings to improve skills security but this was never demonstrated - interviews could be marked as optional or just be links at the end to youtube video interviews as they are additional context and they interrupt the flow Small note and personal preference, I was not a fan of the AI produced videos as they were lagging some times and real human flow is better.

It is good for high level overviews about MCP. However, if you expect in depth knowledge about how MCP works with all the attributes and metadata involved in every stage of the communications between, client/host, MCP server and external tools then it is not for you.

Quite a solid & practical course on MCP . It explains how to build and use MCP servers with clear, real-world examples instead of just theory. Great for anyone looking to work with AI agents and tool integrations. Definitely worth it.

course was very good on explaining basics of MCP and all It would be great if you take a java service or python service with 5-6 endpoints and make MCP for that service in all http, sse and streamble-http format would be great because now many of these services are going to have their own MCPs so creating MCPs for existing micro services would be great for many developers in all 3 http, sse and streamable-http format

Excellent course, it was very complete to understand better what are MCPS, the pros/cons and also how to create them and use them in your agents or langchain. In the section with Auth0+Cloudfare I had several problems trying to reproduce the same as in the video due to some config updates in the projects used, but at the end I managed to make it work.

A little advanced for my role but lots of good information.

Engaging instructor who effectively uses AI tools when the situation calls for it. The course provides a solid overview of MCP along with relevant domain topics like context/resource engineering and the real-world background behind popular frameworks. A few post-edit moments feel a little awkward, but overall it's a strong, worthwhile course with only one very minor caveat. Highly recommended.
By Anderson Lacruz on 1/7/2026
In general it's a pretty good course to get an understanding of MCP, cases of use, tools, best practices for security and identuty. However, I suggest to provide a demo guide to put in practice the knowledge, because the focus is to pay attention to the videos and explanations, so a guideline with demos or examples to do by each person will help a lot. Simple and basic examples more than enough, but unfortunately, it's missing. I don't think Github respositories are the best way to pratice, people need to follow step by step a demo to understand by doing.
