Course Description
Microsoft Fabric: The Future of Data Analytics
In this 12 hour course, you will learn about Microsoft Fabric, a unified platform designed to meet your organization's data and analytics needs. You will explore the capabilities of Fabric, understand how it works, and learn how to use it to build end-to-end data analytics solutions.
The course covers a wide range of Fabric experiences, including:
OneLake: The concept of OneLake is to unify all of your data into a single repository, regardless of its source or format. This makes it easier to manage your data and to perform analytics across all of your data.
Lakehouses: Lakehouses are a new type of data store that combine the benefits of data lakes and data warehouses. They offer the scalability and flexibility of data lakes, while also providing the performance, structure and governance of data warehouses.
Data Warehouses: A database system that stores data in OneLake and provides a medium to interact with the database using SQL commands or other compute engines.
Direct Lake: Direct Lake is a new feature for Power BI that provides all the benefits and performance of Import Mode without actually importing any data into your data model.
Data Factory: Data Factory is a Fabric service that helps you to automate the process of data ingestion, transformation, and loading. Data Factory can be used to build pipelines that process data from a variety of sources including sources native to Fabric and outside the Fabric environment:
Dataflows Gen2: A new version of Dataflows that is built on top of Power Query Online. It provides a number of new features and improvements over Dataflows Gen1.
Delta Parquet files: Delta Parquet files are a new type of Parquet file that support incremental updates. This makes them a good choice for data lakes that are used for streaming data or for data that is frequently updated.
Shortcuts: Shortcuts are a new feature of Azure Data Factory that make it easier to reuse data pipelines. Shortcuts can be used to create a reusable reference to a data pipeline, which can then be used in other pipelines.
This course is designed for data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, Power BI developers and other professionals who want to learn how to use Microsoft Fabric to build end-to-end data analytics solutions. No prior experience with Fabric is required.
This course is a great way to learn about the latest in data analytics technology and to gain the skills you need to build end-to-end data analytics solutions in Microsoft Fabric.

Highly recommended. Very informative, thank you. I did fast forward various places parts where you over communicated on things not specific to Fabric, but overall a well rounded introduction which is explained very well with adequate detail for understanding without getting too technical. Some great demonstrations, rationalised explanations and comprehensive insights. The subtitles need attention, you'd be showing KQL but the subtitles would be referencing SQL, this creates a disconnect for anyone relying on the subtitles due to hearing impairments etc.

Course very good in getting up to speed in Microsoft Fabric. Major functionality is covered; example data for exercises in included; great demos are provided; and a final exam solidifies knowledge. It is based on the 2023 early release and it would be helpful to update with the GA release. My Azure "Pay as you go" account is not allowing me to access Fabric, so I need help with that in order to get hands on experience and do the exercises.

Randy just repeats what is out there at Microsoft website as a high-level introduction to Microsoft fabric. He keeps saying that the goal is not to go deep into each topic, and he keeps referring you to his other courses. To me, there is a little value from this course, one might as read what is on Microsoft web site or follow YouTube Microsoft fabric channels which will give you more value than what you get from this course.

This course is great for people with no preveious experience in Fabric. I covers all the bases in some detail. Not too much detail, Randy has an entirely separate deep dive course. I went from only being familiar with Power BI, to now basically knowing what each element of the Fabric environment is good for, and superficially how to use them. The only reason that I am not giving full five stars is that the structure of the course becomes somewhat unclear midway through. But otherwise it is a very solid course.

I purchased this course to get an introduction to the MS Fabric platform in preparation for professional use. The course is certainly valuable as an introductory course, as it provides an overview of the platform architecture and offers theoretical and practical insights into the various components. One suggestion I would make: as of the time of writing (end of June 2024), even though the second part of the course includes many updates on the changes made to the platform from July 2023 to April-May 2024, it would be more helpful (for students who have never had prior experience with MS Fabric) to update the sections of the first part of the course to immediately illustrate the updated features and familiarize students with the updated interface right away. Notably, the sections on capacities and related costs are useful even for those who will be professionally handling aspects related to purchasing and more specifically, administrative aspects.

This is a good introduction to Microsoft Fabric and works well when combined with Microsoft's own learning materials. The course builds on the knowledge that Randy has gained with many years of working with Microsoft tools and what I most like is he updates the course with the new developments and presents them in a way that make it easy to familiarize yourself with the new functionalities. I'm also happy to say that I passed the DP-600 exam at the first attempt and this course was one of the resources I used.

I liked the course but I found section 4 too long. I think it is better to include this more conceptual part together with the exercises. In a few classes, the image was blurry and made it difficult to perform the exercise. Just suggestions for improvement. I have already purchased the next course and hope to start today. Grateful.

Wow! Randy did a great job of pouring a whole lot of Fabric information into my brain. Earlier in my career I had the opportunity to work on SQL Server 4.21a (actually Sybase redeu) and VB 3 which was part of the original MCSD certification. Despite the many years since, it is amazing that some of that technology still exists and it is amazing how much has changed since. It is a great time to be alive and see how data storage and compute have become a utility. Alot of what we dreamed of as developers have finally become a reality. Thank you Randy for making this available on UDEMY. Its top notch.

Course is good. This course offers a well-structured and informative journey into the world of Fabric, making it an excellent starting point for anyone looking to delve deeper into this technology in the future. The course provided a high-level understanding of Fabric, giving me the knowledge and confidence to explore its capabilities further. I genuinely appreciate the effort put into creating this course, as it has been instrumental in expanding my knowledge in this area. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the instructor for his dedication and the valuable insights he shared throughout the course. It was indeed a rewarding learning experience.

A comprehensive introduction to Microsoft Fabric. The instructor (Randy Minder) did an excellent job going over the theory and practice of Fabric, especially for users familiar with Power BI. It was really amazing what he accomplished in this course. I would list the details, but then again, you can also just read the course description. :) Randy demoed pretty much everything that Fabric offers and it was easy to follow along at the same time. I was particularly impressed with the practice exercises that were included. I felt like this was a real strength of the course! Fabric is constantly changing (in preview as of summer 2023), but Randy has done a good job with updating the course as well as pointing out glitches that still occur (and work arounds). In summary, this course was solid, well-produced, and a truly amazing introduction to the Microsoft SaaS offering: Fabric. Highly recommended!
