Course Description

This short course shows you how to plan a talk, lecture, podcast or webinar in record time (what we call SMART SPEAKING). It also shows how to deliver any presentation without reading from a word-for-word script or without reading from slides or flashcards.  The course has been expanded by including a new section sharing my experience of using Mind Mapping to prepare and deliver a TED Talk

THE COURSE doesn't teach you how to do mind mapping (I've another course that does that). However the course walks you through how mind maps and the mind mapping process can be used to easily and quickly prepare, rehearse and deliver talks and speeches. For those that don't know mind mapping yet, this course is a great introduction to show you one of its greatest benefits.

In the course you'll be following a case study where you are taken, step by step, through an easy-to-use and effective process to plan, rehearse and deliver a lecture.  Plus there are two short projects that give you an opportunity to put your own learning into practice.

For Mind Mappers: Do you just use mind mapping for occasional brainstorming exercises rather than to USE it everyday with practical business applications like planning and rehearsing presentations?

For Non-Mind Mappers: Have you avoided learning this technique because you can't readily see any useful practical applications? Well here is one very practical application

Speaking Skills: Can you present confidently to an audience without notes? Are you already a confident Public Speaker or do you require help?

Speaking Skills: Do you need to present effectively in front of a camera with a conversational style? Would you like to quickly construct audio recordings like podcasts for example? This course will help you become a better public speaker both to a live audience and in front of camera.

Speaking Skills: Do you need to reduce the time it takes to prepare and learn a new speech or present a new workshop?

Speaking Skills: The course shows you how to massively reduce your preparation time, overcome writers block, and if necessary memorise your talk, all using one simple technique on a single sheet of paper.

i want to return this course. it is useless with no particular learning, usage or information.

The conversational elements, whilst conveying the information, feel like they are there simply to make the lecture longer. I feel that the information could be conveyed far more efficiently by other means. Also, the lecturer seems to cut across the young lady, which is quite irritating after a while.

Exactly what I needed. The script is too time-consuming to the point where you leave out detail because of the time. Bullet points are too general. Time is spent redoing the presentation because the bullet points lacked detail. What I love about mind mapping is the reflexive discussion you have with yourself while preparing the map. You turn the thoughts over in your mind looking at them from different perspectives as you go. It is an iterative approach to developing a presentation. Very cool!

The instructor's delivery is easily understandable. He sets a foundation and builds on that foundation. I'm taking this course because I want to learn how to use Mind Maps to prepare to speak and to speak effectively, both in person as well as when I create my online videos.

I really enjoyed this quick course. It delivered everything it promised and more! I am a big fan of mind mapping, and I really enjoy how Barry takes you step-by-step through the process of planning your lecture or presentation, and delivering it without a script in a comfortable, and natural conversational tone. Thanks Barry . . .

I think the material in this course is very useful and will definitely help me in planning my upcoming talks. But the one thing that kept me from providing a more positive review was the technical side. I tried listening to this talk in several coffee shops, and found that the sound repeatedly disappeared and the buffering to get the video moving constantly started and stopped, which was very annoying and distracting. I recommend that the presenter try using a more effective delivery method next time, as he has some very valuable things to say.

As I have completed the first Mind Mapping course, this is a fantastic supplement. I have in fact prepared and delivered a talk using Mind Mapping. It was powerful how naturally the talk flowed and was reviewed as "Amazing". I know that the outcome would have been completely different had I used a script and not in a good way. As a novice mapper, I am just beginning to see how effective this can be in my everyday life and not just for talks. Thank you Barry for a most helpful and well delivered course!

As a long time instructor I am very familiar with the tension and worries before each class. After going through this course, I am confident to say that it presented me with an excellent tool for lowering the anxiety and not forgetting my main points in the speech. I am intending to use it before my every lecture now, in order to get practice and improve my skills with MM. I took this course after the main MM course that Barry Mapp has in Udemy. I believe that in order to take the best value from the current course, you need to follow the same path. I am looking forward to more courses from the same instructor.

Course gives some good ideas on preparing and delivering your presentations. But I preferred the original Mind Mapping course which taught me a lot and HELPED me a lot to gather information about my projects, goals, to do list etc on one page quick look format.

By Alex Ivanov on 8/2/2015

This marks the 2nd class I have completed by Barry, I think this one wouldn't have been as useful had I not taken the longer one on mind mapping. I'm pleased to say that before I even looked at Section 3 I have already used the mind mapping techniques in preparing for presentations, jotting down thoughts on courses I will create myself and am looking forward to the ultimate challenge of getting to completion on at least one course. In any case Barry has made it onto my short list of must follow instructors as I have seen what a huge help mind mapping, even in the roughest form on very little practice has done for me. It doesn't have to be perfect, but just being able to jot thoughts down and review them later. Simply superb,
