Great Course, enough time to breath and digest the information as you learn. I have and will be taking more of Jay's courses as he explains in a very relaxed style with plenty of real life examples of the methods he teaches.

In general this course is good, not great. What could be better in my opinion: 1) a lot of the time you assume a lot of basic knowledge and you kind of start in the middle. It doesn't hurt to go over everything you do. 2) there is an improvisational tone that comes across a little disorganised. 3) there is a lot of repitition. 4) there could be a bit more depth in the topics, a bit more practice. But overall, I'm still following along and learning things, so thanks for that.

Some parts of the course such as the Reading a frequency spectrum and some earlier explanations- were very good. But I wished that there was more Zooming in so that we clearly see where the curser is. And I would prefer a different organisation of the course with more clarity in regards to who the students would be and what they need to know and should be shown. The title of the course Mixing with Ableton live made me assume that I will not only learn about mixing but would also see where things are in Ableton in regards to mixing. For example, I would have liked to see where the EQ spectrum came from. At the start of the video- it was just there. But how did we get it? In other words- in addition to not knowing the elements of mixing, we don't know our way around Ableton in regards to mixing! By "we" I mean the beginners. Perhaps we are not the intended audience for this course? So I would have liked "Next we will look at the Frequency spectrum and EQ. To get it up, we go here. And now let us go over what we see and what it means... " The same with panning. It was shown very quickly and I had to replay it again and again to see exactly where that was. Having said all that, I must stress that the narrative about the how to read a frequency spectrum was very good. I liked that it was not rushed and I feel like I had Aha! moment. Another observation: In earlier section, we had a 7 min video of what sounded like club music. But how many of the students here write such music? When I bought the course I suspected that it will not relate to any of the music I write which is classical and folk sounding orchestral music. But I had hoped that we'd work on a song of some sorts where there is a lead vocal and band instruments. Perhaps I didn't read the overview of the course properly and it does mention something about focusing on club music. In any case, I will carry on with the course and hope that I could relate to more of the examples given.

Great course covering the basics of mixing and just what I needed for my music. Clear presentation, visuals and reasoning as to when to use things or not. Whilst mixing is an art this course gives the process and tools to hone my skills. For me it could have included a video or handout/download on things to consider for other genres besides EDM, e.g. Jazz, 70s Rock, 80s Pop, Drum and Bass etc

I LOVED the organization of this class-something about the sections really helped me build the mix mentality I needed. I will definitely be going back to review this regularly. I highly recommend this class and taking notes along with the class--I made a cheat sheet of the main bullets that hangs in my studio now and it has helped LOADS. Thank you J!

Jason covers many important mixing techniques and concepts within this tutorial and delivers them in a palatable manner. For people just starting out, this tutorial will provide much use. The only criticism I have is that it seems like some of the materials he's referencing in the lectures are the first time he's ever seen them too; comes across as a little rushed or unthought for the lesson planning.
By Ivo on 8/16/2021
Jason is a great tutor who masters 100% the material. He is extremely good in transmitting knowledge also. I strongly recommend any of his courses. However this course IMO, shall not be labeled "all levels", it is directed mostly to the beginners and more than half course is a beginners material and guidance.

Very insightful course with a systematic approach to mixing. It helped me to get the workflow of my mixing process in a good order and have plenty of time left for creative experiments.

This was a great class and very informational. I definitely learned a good amount, since i am mixing and mastering my first EP. This was easy to follow and learn and of course i could always just rewind and relisten to the lesson if i thought i may have missed something. Glad to have bought this course and will be referencing it!

I will say outright, this course will be *slightly* redundant in some parts if you've completed the Music Theory For Electronic Music and Ableton Live 10 classes/bundles. That said, it has a lot of useful information. It's not going to give you a degree in sound engineering, but it WILL allow you to hit the ground running while adding the final touches to your music. It's worth the price (full or discounted), so I do recommend it.
