This course may not fully meet expectations for everyone, but it still offers value and is not a bad choice overall. Someone taking it will learn useful things, and it’s worth considering. That said, for complete beginners, it can sometimes be difficult to follow. The instructor appears to assume familiarity with basic tools and workflows, occasionally moving ahead without clearly showing where certain commands or options are located. The pacing can also feel a bit fast, making it harder to pause and follow each step comfortably. At times, actions are performed without being explicitly stated. For example, a track might be deleted and a new one added before the next step, but this isn’t always mentioned. As a beginner, this can be confusing, it leaves you wondering what happened to the previous track and whether something was missed. Small clarifications like “let’s delete this track and add a new one” would make a big difference. Additionally, explanations often focus on what is happening, but not always on why it is happening or what alternative outcomes could be. A few more transitional sections explaining tools and basic concepts would help make the learning experience smoother. Overall, it’s a decent course. You’re unlikely to regret taking it, but clearer explanations and a slightly slower, more structured approach would make it significantly better.

It is a good course that teaches you the basics of typography in After Effects but it lacks visualization quality, the course needs an urgent UPDATE and the instructor should go slower with each movement of the cursor since in some chapters the tracking is lost. .. And it's as if it already takes for granted that you know how to solve or create it just like the tutor... AE has updates and if you don't use ChatGPT or Google, there are things that you won't be able to finish because to access certain tools, there are currently different mechanisms to get to them, the software has changed.

This is my first course in Adobe After Effects and before now, After Effects had been daunting to say the least. It is very easy to get lost if you have no clue what you are doing. I'm probably about half-way through this course at this point and it now appears simple to me as well as easy to use. The instructor is easy to understand and illustrates his points well. This is an excellent course that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to understand After Effects or motion typography, period.

Mikey is incredibly knowledgable and very efficient at getting concepts and techniques across in an easy to understand manner. He has a very pleasant manner, clear speaking voice and I like his style very much, having watched many of his YouTube videos before buying this course. The short lessons are broken up nicely, but my favourite lesson was the hour long practical lesson where you follow Mikey making a whole video from start to finish using the techniques from previous lessons which I found incredibly useful. Would definitely go for another of those using a range of different techniques. Additional resources were great; presets, scripts, Sound FX and templates alone are a huge help. Feedback-wise, I would appreciate constant reminders of the keyboard shortcuts being used to really hammer them home, or perhaps using screen capture software which shows the keys being pressed. Also, I would like to have some best practices put across with explanations, such as good ways to organise projects, when and when not to use pre comps, etc. Overall though, highly recommended and this course will give you the tools and knowledge to make a decent motion typography project in After Effects and set you off to more advanced work. Worth every penny.

To start with, I had experience with After Effects, but no in-depth understanding of using it for motion graphics. After this course was finished, I feel like I have enough understanding of the theory to make real, sellable animated ads. Now that I'm looking for it, I'm also finding it amazing how many animations just like you're shown to do are currently on TV, meaning it's a genuinely marketable skillset to have. This course definitely covers the ins and outs of text animation. While there were times that I had to slow the video down to half to be able to process what the instructor was saying, I did appreciate the enthusiasm he had all the way through the course. I highly recommend the course for anyone looking to learn how to do this.

Great Course! Very helpful to follow along and watch what he is doing and do it on your own computer. Also he has so many different styles to add motion its amazing! Great tutorials and so much to learn! I just started with After Effects and this course really helped jump me forward into the program and learn a lot about how it works. It's given me great ideas for my own motion as well. I work as a videographer for a Advertising company and I've already used the knowledge from this course to create 2 different 30 second TV commercials for clients. Great course, I wish it never ended.

Mikey's After Effects tutorials are simple to follow and he is clearly passionate about animation and motion effects. I discovered Mikey awhile ago on Youtube and when he announced his new After FX course I was no doubt that I will buy and attend his Udemy course about Motion Typography. It was very useful to watch this course. I thought that I know most of the stuff anyway but watching this course gave a lot of new material, tips, workarounds and new inspiration. And it comes with sound FX and presets that I am using and find useful as well.

Mikey is a very talented and passionate person about his lessons! In a very few hours you will make a jump start in the wonder world of kinetic typography! He will not only teach you how to quickly make a interesting kinetic typography from scratch, he will pass through all the different techniques that make the kinetic text interesting and alive! So it is perfect, you can mix and match a technique from a course in the beginning, another from a little bit further, so you can create your own that will be a unique piece! It is money well spend!

If you are just starting out with motion type then this is the course for you Mikey is very easy to understand and he goes at just the right pace. I consider my self an intermediate user as I have taught my self alot of what is covered in the first half of the course but I still found it very usefull. Firstly because the stuff I already knew was confirmed for me by a professional It is a great feeling to know what you have taught yourself is the right way of doing things. Secondly I picked up some great new skills as well and really speed up my workflow with some new tricks. The included downloads and presets are also exellent.

Mikey Borups Motion Typography course is really well put together, it flows and is easy to understand and follow along. He breaks down each part of the course into bit size digestible sections (if this course was a biscuit it would be delicious!) that allows full comprehension. The course comes with a bunch of additional material to aid your learning and get you creating fun and engaging motion typography, overall it is a great course for a good price I learnt a lot.
