Course Description

For Makers and DIY enthusiasts who want to take their Internet of Things (IoT) projects into their own hands.

Welcome to my online course on Node-RED, MQTT and ESP32! Designed specifically for Makers and DIY enthusiasts, this course gives you the opportunity to take your projects to the next level by combining Node-RED, MQTT and ESP32.

Node-RED is a visual programming environment that allows projects to be created easily and intuitively without the need for in-depth programming knowledge. MQTT is a lightweight protocol for data transmission in IoT networks, with which end devices can be connected quickly and easily. The great advantage of MQTT is that transmission is possible in near real time. The ESP32 is a powerful microcontroller that is ideal for IoT projects thanks to its integrated WiFi and Bluetooth support.

In this course you will learn how to use Node-RED to control and regulate your ESP32-based projects and exchange data via MQTT. You will learn how to build your own IoT network, collect data from sensors and visualise it in real time with actual programs like InfluxDB or Grafana. You will also learn how to monitor and control your projects via the internet and retrieve data from anywhere in the world.

This course is ideal for Makers and DIY enthusiasts who want to take control of their projects and deepen their knowledge of the Internet of Things with MQTT and Node-RED. The combination of Node-RED, MQTT and ESP32 gives you the flexibility and power you need to turn your projects into reality.

What you learn:

Pretty good course, the only problem are the sites interfaces in german for those who have "visual memory", everything else is very good explained with very good tips.

Worth every cent. I'd like more courses with the deep and breath of this one, that jumps quickly into interesing ESP32 projects and greatly opens the appetite for more...

I bought this course specifically because I needed help with better understanding node red and mqtt, but also ESP32. I work with all of the in Home Assistant but I can truly say I know more after this course, so the money was worth it! Thanks!

This course helped me achieve my own learning goals. That being said, if a course is listed as an English course about NodeRed specifically then the NodeRed application should be configured to display everything in English. That and a number of other applications seemed to have their interfaces configured for German. This is not so helpful.

Course is in english but most of the shared screen parts arn't so makes it hard to tell what is being clicked unless following along pratically. I like to watch a chapter first so I get an overview and then watch it again while doing. Diagnostic and debugging isn't really discussed which are key skills needed when learning anything. If you don't have the same set up or want to use a different board you may not get the skills needed to handle issues down the line. while setting up your server with the needed tools you will have to type out config files with limited explation of what each line is for, a simple slide explaining each line would go a long way. Also being they are tab sensitive uploading them to the videos wouldn't hurt. I am one for typing everything to help with memory but if its junk data ( due to not being explained) then there is no reason to get people to type it out. I purchased the course mainly for influx, node red and mqtt knowledge so I can set up a simple data gathering system. I understand this isn't completely what the course is but was hoping it would go into those systems enough that I could set up other systems. Luckly I got this course on sale so isn't a massive loss but if I had paid full price I would be rather miffed. I would say look up some tutorials first and if you are getting stuck get this course only while on sale. Now I have a server set up with the right tools I will be looking for another course or tutorial to finish my project. NOTE - Course not finished as I don't have a spare ESP32 to follow along or all the sensors in the videos. There may be more snippets of knowledge to gain from those but I shall never know.

This is an excellent course, with many practical examples involving ESP32, Node-RED (I didn’t know this versatile/useful tool), MQTT, InfluxDB, Grafana, and persistence using MariaDB, among others. Thank you, Markus!

I have been collecting data from multiple sensors using rtl_433 and an rtl_sdr radio. I have been using mqtt and node-red to collect and analyze the data. I was looking for a course to learn about influxdb. This course came up in my search and I decided to give it a try. I have been using an old laptop running Linux Bodhi for this course practice. The course helped me understand my installed packages much better and gave me some insights into applications that I have not used but will find very useful. Installing programs as containers in Docker will be very useful to me in the future. I find it much easier to install a container than trying to figure out all install options on a given program. I load the container and it runs!! I am familiar with nod-red. This gives me an opportunity to install and reconfigure my system without messing up my current data collection system. In the future I will try some of the ESP32 projects and try to use my Arduino Nano devices before purchasing ESP32 devices. Having the code to look at will be beneficial to program and run the examples. This course covers a lot of information. It is not for a beginner. A knowledge of Linux and other systems is useful. Thanks for the interesting course.

Gives the right level of details for people that like to dig further on themselves. The best way to thoroughly learn tech topics. Is as well true to his word to teach by example
