Course Description

In this multi-part video course, you'll learn the fundamentals of the SQL programming language in Oracle, and get specific guidance for the first test in the Oracle certification track. This course is designed for the beginner, meaning no experience with Oracle 12c is required.

You will start by learning about the Oracle relational database, then jump into learning about the SQL SELECT statement. From there, author Steve Ries will teach you about conditionals in SQL, conversion functions, and implicit and explicit joins. This video tutorial also covers subqueries, data manipulation, and data definition language. Finally, you will learn about the exam, and Steve will provide you with hints and strategies to help you prepare.

Once you have completed the course, you will be fully capable of working with the SQL programming language, and in doing so, you will be much better prepared for the Oracle Database 12c SQL Fundamentals exam. Fantastic lessons but I spent 4 days trying to install Oracle Database 12c on my Windows machine and even my Linux Hyper-V instance to no avail. After a ridiculous amount of Googling, I was able to find an arcane command-line switch that allowed me to install the 12c database on Windows.

So far, the course is very detailed and easy to understand. It covers the information thoroughly and efficiently in a concise manner. The explanation on setting up your SQL work space was also very quick and easy to follow along. I am very impressed.

This course covers all the topics in part 1 of the OCA exam. This course could be improved by the instructor being more involved with answering questions in Q&A sections. As you can see it has been over a year since instructor has responded to anything. Also needs to provide exercises/quizzes in order for us to demonstrate our understanding of material. This course can be help to supplement test prep but should not be sole source of test prep.

This information is highly usable, even though a review of much of the 11g type trainings. Interesting new join techniques I was not familiar with. Always much to learn.
