Prathap G's course is a focused look at Oracle SQL tuning, built for developers, analysts and DBAs who already write queries and now need to work out why one is slow. It runs 6.5 hours across 62 lectures and 12 sections. The syllabus moves from Oracle architecture and SQL processing through execution plans, statistics and cardinality, indexes, access methods and joins, then tuning tips and a few advanced topics. A closing appendix walks through installing Oracle 11g and 12c.

Most of the 1,257 reviews are warm, with 633 five-star ratings and 456 four-star ones. Students call it well structured and detailed, and one says they applied several of the tips at work. Another says it takes longer than the estimated time. The complaints are consistent. The instructor's accent and diction are hard to follow for some, and the auto captions mangle terms, turning histogram into instagram. One developer found it too detailed for an application role, and another wanted exercises.

At 6.5 hours it is quick, and the January 2026 update means it is not stale. The gaps matter, though. Reviewers missed partitioning, hints and SPM, and practice is limited to four quizzes. For a developer or DBA who can cope with a strong accent and imperfect captions, it is a compact way to learn to read plans and fix slow queries. Anyone who wants lots of practice or very clean audio should look elsewhere.

Very good and structured course. It covers very well the concepts that are needed for one to be able to provide solutions to query performance issues. The only thing that, in my opinion, is very important and that is not covered in this course is SPM but it would require a complete separate course anyways.

Sì, sono concetti che avevo già appreso ma su cui non riflettevo più da parecchio tempo. Importante che siano sempre ben impressi nella mente di chi affronta la programmazione PS/Sql. Aggiornamento a metà strada: ottimo corso ma segnalo che i sottotitoli (che attivo per semplificare la comprensione delle parole) sono pessimi. Ad esempio: la parola "histogram" è quasi sempre tradotta con "instagram" e non dirò nulla dei B*Tree e della terminologia correlata degli indici.
