Thank you Bernie! I really enjoyed this course. Lots of information and a few laughs as well. The first part of the course was most helpful. The creative camera settings, Av, Tv, ISO etc. I've been stuck in AUTO for so long, I've never really understood what my camera was capable of doing. Lighting and Portrait shots were very interesting. I found these sections very helpful for my main photography interests. Will definitely look at further courses with you.

This course is the most comprehensive one I've found to date. The instructor is always clear and precise and accurate in what he says and the examples do help. He is sometimes funny but doesn't try to be all the time. He knows his profession. I have learned a lot and will come back to various portions again and again. Only an in-person class would be better. Larry D Bechdol

This has been a great course for me as I am very interested in building my capability to get better pictures learning how to better compose pictures and use my camera equipment. Bernie gives a very personable presentation and shows how to use the resources available to capture better photos in the enviroment or how to find the environments to make pictures more dynamic. I have learned how to use my camera better for many circumstances and recognize how to capture different perspectives to enhance the photographs. I will use his course for reference and refreshers for composition and photo techniques into the future.

This was an amazing course and helped clarify some issues I had with using my Nikon DSLR as well as my smartphone. The instructor explained how to improve shots in all types of settings using the camera's functions and impressionable tricks to improve the shots. Looking forward to more courses taught by him. Would recommend function and setting familiarity with your DSLR prior to taking this course to improve your experience. It will make it easier to follow the instructor instead of trying to learn your camera while he teaches. Good luck and enjoy...I did!

I enjoyed this course from beginning to end. My DSLR has been sitting on a shelf for the last ten years. I learnt more about it in the last month than I did in the last decade. I was happy to discover that it was not obsolete. I enjoyed exploring and demystifying the settings on the camera and learning how changing them affects the shot. I feel I have more tools to improve photos. The only problem I had with the course is that it focuses on taking portraits and pictures of people. I'm more into landscapes and abstract shots. I learnt a lot and improved a lot in this area too- but I thought there would maybe be more on this than there was. I'm also doing three other Udemy courses at the moment, and they all include assignments where you have a set task to complete. I felt that was missing from the course. Although it is easy enough to google photo assignments and there are plenty of ideas to work on. The best thing about the course is Bernie's dad jokes. I don't know why he doesn't have a TV show by now. Every time I watched it I came away feeling light, happy and motivated. You can't ask for a better teacher than that.

I enjoyed the course, it covered a lot and I learned much. Just two things: the videos took a long time to download to my system so streaming was often interupted no session on macro or nature type close-ups

By Juli Reynolds on 10/5/2016

So far basic, but informative. A bit entertaining and I like that the session is short yet effective.

By Felicia Moreno on 1/11/2016

Bernie does an amazing job of breaking down the information, and explaining it. The course is comprehensive and covers a large amount of material. Bernie gives examples of what he is explaining. I would like to have pauses in the video to attempt to implement the lesson and then return to the section. As an American, I love listening to his UK accent and his giggles. Well Done.

By Steve Elliott on 7/27/2015

These are excellent demonstrations rather than talking head lectures! The material is presented on sites where Bernie explains the concepts, usually shows the camera settings, and then displays the photos he has just taken. There is a little talking head material but it almost always precedes or follows the demonstration. The production quality is good. The content is well thought out and organized. The segments are short and to the point. They are titled so it is easy to find a segment you want to review. Bernie is enthusiastic and engaging. Very worth the money and time.

I wish I had seen this before trying to take pictures with a camera. I think this is the best camera course you could watch as it gives instructions and immediate pictures made using his instructions for a compact camera and for a DSLR camera. It explains everything clearly with examples. It is a very thorough course and will answer any question you could possibly have. I learned a lot from this course. The course also gives examples and explains all kinds of cameras and their best features. Do not pass this course by -- take it!
