Our take
Based on the ratings of 6,492 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in November 2021. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is an exam-focused prep course for the PMI-ACP, taught by Joseph Phillips, a project management author with more than 25 years of experience. It runs about 12.4 hours across 91 lectures and 9 sections: two opening sections on exam prep and the agile mindset, one section for each of the six exam domains, and a wrap-up. The description promises 21 contact hours and 21 PDUs, though the listed video length is about 12 hours, so it is worth confirming how PMI will count the hours. It is aimed at project managers who already qualify to sit the exam.
Reviewers are mostly happy. About 89 percent of the 6,492 ratings are four or five stars, and several say they passed on the first attempt, often after watching twice and adding practice questions or a book. Students like the clear explanations and the games that break up the lectures. The complaints are about polish. Reviewers mention missing lectures, typos in the handouts, dead links in recent months, and quizzes that come as PDFs. One calls the delivery slow and low energy, and another says questions use terms the lectures never covered.
The course was last updated in November 2021, so expect some rough edges. One reviewer, who gave three stars, still calls it enough to pass the exam, but most success stories mention extra practice questions on top. Recommended for working project managers who want a focused exam path and can live with dated presentation. Pair it with a separate bank of situational questions.
Pros
- Sections follow the exam domains, from value driven delivery to continuous improvement
- Several reviewers say they passed the exam first try after watching it, some twice through
- Clear, easy to follow explanations of Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP, with games to break it up
- Includes a workbook, flashcards and PDF module exams you can print and study offline
Cons
- Broken links and missing lectures are reported, and the last update was November 2021
- Handout slides have typos and homophone errors, and some find the delivery slow and low energy
- Quizzes are PDFs, and questions lean on recall, with terms not always taught in the lectures
I PASSED! I listened to this course. I listened to the entire course about twice.
Pitched at project managers who meet the PMI-ACP eligibility rules; some agile exposure helps, and it is not a first PM course.

This course provides a well‑structured and comprehensive overview of Agile principles and practices aligned with the PMI‑ACP® exam domains. The content is clearly presented, thoughtfully organized, and effectively bridges theory and practical application, making it valuable for both exam preparation and real‑world Agile practice. The instructor explains concepts in a clear, accessible manner, supported by relevant examples that reinforce understanding across Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP). The pacing is appropriate, and the modular structure makes it easy to follow and revisit key topics as needed. Overall, this course is a strong resource for earning the PMI‑ACP designation and for strengthening Agile knowledge. It successfully delivers the required 21 PDUs while providing actionable insights that can be applied immediately in professional environments.

There are many methods in this course that keep learning exciting. The games are a welcomed changed to the learning experience. I believe Joseph Phillips delivered all the information that was needed for the exam in an easy to digest way. I passed my exam on my first try which I feel is an indication of how the coursed prepared me. As Joseph suggested, I believe going through the course at least twice is best. The first time is getting introduced to something new, the second is picking up on details you might have missed. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to start their PMI journey.

I have got my PMI-RMP certificate on December 2017 , then I decided to catch PMI-ACP certificate within the remain 3 months before exam material changes on 26th March 2018. I found Mr. Joseph Phillips introduction about PMI-ACP training course and I noticed that he stressed on a specific goal which was “Getting PMI-ACP certificate “ and that was my goal too! . He advised to study his offered materials 2-3 times and set exam date within 3-4 weeks after the course . I did the same and on Thursday 1st march 2018, I passed PMI-ACP Exam and got my certificate . I think the course should include more questions and answers which help in PMI-ACP exam

It was easy to use and understand. I did listen to it twice though as with all things, it takes couple times at least to understand what is being said and if I had more time, I am sure I would discover something new on the 4th and 5th time I listen. A lot of info, but I actually ID with some of it, as I was using it in my daily work, this course just articulated what I was doing and it actually helped me with the interview process. I don't know if I would do pure Agile, depends on the industry, but there is so much valuable info that any industry would benefit from (like empowered team and taking leadership role as appropriate). Thank you!

The length of each module is well designed. I like the pace of the course. Update 1/27/2018: I passed the PMI-ACP exam yesterday, thanks in part to this course. I used this course to earn the necessary PDU's, and it was my first foray into structured Agile training. Recommend this course highly for an engaging experience with the subject and a well structured overview of the Agile exam domains. Joseph's encouragement, too, was welcome. It can be overwhelming, but he brings the effort back down to earth and you can't help but gain confidence through his encouragement. I supplemented with a study guide, "Ace the PMI-ACP exam" by Sumanta Borel and also took the online training offered by Izenbridge. Both are EXCELLENT resources if you really want to "be Agile" and not just "know it".

Great course and instructor. Joe is a rock star! Hi Joe, Thanks for the great course. I passed on my first attempt - just like you said. Here are a few tips for others based on what I did. (1) Just listen to all lectures and take the quizzes as a first pass. (2) As a second pas listen to lectures. Take notes. And take the quizzes. (3) Take the practice exam till you get a 100. (4) At the real exam - pack as lightly as you can - all I took was, car keys, wallet and phone. Prometric will let you strike bizarre answers and also mark questions for a 2nd review. I used both options and I think it helped. When multiple answers make sense, mark it for a review and move on - come back and rethink quickly and then go with your gut. Thanks Joe! and good luck to all his students.

The technical quality of the course is very low. It looks like the author used speech recognition tool for creating the content of the slides. Therefore, there are lots of homophone errors and unpunctuated text.

i passed my PMI-ACP exam today. Your simple training course helped me well in getting above target scores in first 5 modules. Almost all questions are situational and they make lot of sense in testing being Agile or Knowing Agile. My advise to my co learners is go through the training videos at least twice and get prepared to answer situational questions instead of direct questions. The training material is perfectly aligned as per PMI-ACP exam guidelines. I enjoyed playing the Joe's quiz games more than 20 times in the last 4 weeks. They are real fun to learn and helped me a lot in passing my ACP exam.

I really like Joseph's teaching style his delivery is excellent, Joseph covers the topics fairly well and explains the knowledge domains in a manner that is easy to learn and retain. His energy and on going support through out the course is infectious, it is hard not to keep going with this type of motivational support. I did notice like other students the spelling mistakes, change in audio and brief break in one of the lectures where another presenter cuts in, but other than these few issues the course is well laid out. I would recommend that the course include more questions at the end of each domain and that the questions align more closely with the scenario type of questions and format you are likely to see on the exam. It would also be more beneficial if the question were computer based instead of pdf based. Maybe offer the questions in both formats one to do online as part of the course and another to download and take away to be used as study material. If the course included a mock exam at the end in the same format and style ( scenario based ) of the real exam, I would have gladly paid more for the course. Overall a very good course Thank you Joseph for taking the time to put together such an engaging course. Based on this course I have also purchased two of your other courses. To add to my comment I have since taken the exam and passed I found this course to be very good preparation.

I took the PMI ACP exam today and cleared in my first attempt. Your course was greatly useful in understanding the underlying concepts of agile and exam course content. PMI ACP exam questions that I got was fully scenario based and there were not even a single definition/glossary kind of questions. This course is definitely provided a good base for me to be confident about the course content and then build upon additional knowledge. I would personally recommend Joseph to add a separate chapter on real time situations and problems in small and larger agile projects as the exam questions that I got were completely around this and it would greatly help the course takers. Thank you Joseph for your wonderful guidance through this course. Please keep adding value (as in agile) :)
