Our take
Based on the ratings of 7,007 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in July 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a server-side course, not a SQL tutorial. Sadiq Basha, a database administrator with about 20 years across Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL, walks through architecture, storage, installation on Windows and Linux, configuration files, users and schemas, and psql. It runs 14.3 hours over 118 lectures in 21 sections. Around 29,900 students have enrolled, and it carries the Highest Rated badge. The audience list puts DBAs and accidental DBAs first, and the content fits that.
Reviewers like the clear explanations and the short videos. One says every command worked in their own lab, and another liked that it starts with how Postgres works instead of install steps. One student loved the instructor's pace. Of roughly 7,000 ratings, about 3,500 are five stars and 2,700 are four, with 642 at three. The sample has almost no complaints, so the cons are minor. There are no coding exercises, only 16 quizzes, so practice is left to the learner alongside the videos.
The biggest block is backup, restore and automation at about 2.4 hours, including continuous archiving and point-in-time recovery. Maintenance covers vacuum and reindexing, and there is a full upgrade section. The headline says the course was updated to version 17, but the syllabus shows version tours only through 16, last refreshed in July 2025. There is no replication or high availability section here. Still, it is a solid pick for anyone moving into Postgres administration who already knows basic database concepts.
Pros
- Starts with process and memory architecture, so later admin tasks make sense
- Backup section runs about 2.4 hours, with continuous archiving and PITR
- Short videos with demos that students say they could repeat in their own lab
- Covers vacuum, reindexing, upgrades and a pgAdmin 4 tour in one place
Cons
- No coding exercises and only 16 quizzes, so hands-on practice is self-directed
- Headline says version 17, but the syllabus tours stop at version 16
- No replication or high availability topics, and the title says Part 1
Explanation is very clear, videos are short and all the commands used works perfectly as I tried them in my lab environment.
Listed for all levels, but it assumes basic database concepts plus working knowledge of Windows and Linux.

Course Description
PostgreSQL is an advanced, enterprise class open source Object-Relational Database Management System (ORDBMS). Its is a relational database that supports both SQL (relational) and JSON (non-relational) querying.
PostgreSQL possesses robust feature sets including Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC), point in time recovery, granular access controls, tablespaces, asynchronous replication, nested transactions, online/hot backups, a refined query planner/optimizer, and write ahead logging. It supports international character sets, multi-byte character encodings, Unicode, and it is locale-aware for sorting, case-sensitivity, and formatting. PostgreSQL is highly scalable both in the quantity of data it can manage and in the number of concurrent users it can accommodate.
The course provides the learner with an extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL Database Administration with real time examples.
Topics covered are:
PostgreSQL Process and Memory Architecture
Installation of PostgreSQL on Windows and Linux

It is really hard to come across good DBA courses these days which primarily focuses on stuff like architecture and important internal components. This course is an absolute gem. Sadiq has done a great job, explaining the core DB techniques and operations in a simpler way and the demonstrations were a added bonus. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking forward to get upskilled as a DBA in POSTGRESQL.
