Course Description

PostgreSQL is an advanced, enterprise class open source Object-Relational Database Management System (ORDBMS). Its is a relational database that supports both SQL (relational) and JSON (non-relational) querying.

PostgreSQL possesses robust feature sets including Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC), point in time recovery, granular access controls, tablespaces, asynchronous replication, nested transactions, online/hot backups, a refined query planner/optimizer, and write ahead logging. It supports international character sets, multi-byte character encodings, Unicode, and it is locale-aware for sorting, case-sensitivity, and formatting. PostgreSQL is highly scalable both in the quantity of data it can manage and in the number of concurrent users it can accommodate.

The course provides the learner with an extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL Database Administration with real time examples.

Topics covered are:

  • Introduction to Replication & It's Terminalogies

  • Master and Slave Configuration

  • Warm & Hot Standby

  • Types of Replication

  • Modes of Replication

  • Models of Replication

  • Log Based Shipping Standby Initial Setup

Well done! Sadiq presented this course in a simple, easy to understand format. Does a very good job of covering the topic of replication and sharing his knowledge of it. Looking forward to taking the next course on performance tuning.

The pace of teaching is outstanding, and the explanations are comprehensive, including new version features and changes with examples. It thoroughly explains the topic, not just how to do it but also why. Detailed demos illustrate the underlying processes, enhancing comprehension. Thanks, Sadiq Basha.

Great course for new to Postgres administrators! I am working with Postgres many years and find some new details but missed more complex and real world scenarious with replication (separate index, schema folder, rights, etc) & high availability tasks where admin get some headaches.

The course is excellent with very detailed explanations. We just need move away from this Master-Slave terminology that really doesn’t even fit. The databases in replication scenario are essentially Peers that will can assume database processing responsibilities when the peer is unable to continue processing. We simply need to clean up this terminology. Thank you.

Version 12 of PostgreSQL has been used for the training. However, it does cover the changes in versions 15 and 16 at the end. That said, it is somewhat outdated. The explanations are mostly derived from written material, which appears to have been compiled specifically for the training. It lacks in-depth or additional knowledge on these topics.

All in all, another excellent course from Sadiq. Some of the course highlights are as follows. 1, The concepts are clearly defined followed by hands-on demos. 2, Quick turnaround by the instructor when it comes to answering questions. 3, While the Section 6 "Tune Server Parameters" does not fit in, but still found it to be very useful. Future Suggestions ================= Maybe expand the scope of the course from "replication" to "replication & High Availability" and include some of the more popular HA components. Not sure, if this makes sense, but some examples are as follows. - pgbouncer (Sadiq did briefly mentioned the tool in this course). - pgpool - Slony (Not sure if it is a propertiory tool and if it can included). - PL/Proxy Note: There maybe other tools that I may not be familiar with. In summary, an excellent course that I will highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn PostgreSQL replication. Thanks Fahed

I got Internal training on PostgreSQL database administration to support a production databases (basically I works as an oracle DBA). I am not confident enough with internal training. while exploring in Udemy, I found this course and I purchased both part-1 and part-2 to deep dive bit more. I am very happy with course content, trust me I am managing 2TB production banking project databases with out any hiccups. Special thanks to Sadiq Basha. Thanks, Sai Krishna M

This traning is excellent. This is not fast, it is in a relaxed pace so that it is comfortable for the people who are new to PostgreSQL to comfortably intake the knowledge and digest. Also the theory and hands-on demos are woven in the training simultaneously for best understanding.

Enjoyed both the parts . It covers all the basic administration activities require for a postgres beginner. Explanation was on to the point and very easy to understand. Hoping there is part 3 in making on 'performance issues in postgres'.
