A decent enough course on hard surface modeling and texturing, with some interesting detours. Dated. Drawn out and tedious at times. Nowhere near as complete as the name implies. Audio volume is way too low. The wheels on the vehicle look terrible because of how low-poly they are. Still, there's a decent course in there somewhere, so I can't complain too much.

Overall so far the course is good! Points of improvement however; The course did not stipulate which version of 3dSMax to download and due to differences in the version showed on the videos and the one I have, I am having to stop and search for things very frequently. Also the instructor at various times assumes knowledge and uses shortcuts that may be unknown to the user/student.

I think that this is a great course that goes into detail about using 3ds Max and the different aspects of 3D modeling. I'm not a beginner, so I'm doing a lot of skimming, but the amount of time he spends explaining what to do and why, I'm sure is very beneficial to a novice.

Although some what out dated its lessons are extremely informative and have practical and easy to follow steps for improving your artwork.

This course is not for beginners. To follow along, you must be familiar with the jargon and similar programs. The program used is an outdated version that is not available for download anymore. If you already have an idea of what you are doing and would like to expand, then this course might be useful for you. Others, I recommend choosing a different class.

I picked up this course for $8, a fair bit lower then the current price. For what I payed it is an absolutely excellent experience. Compared to the $30 a month places like Lynda.com are expecting you to pay. However for the price udemy regularly charges I'm a little disappointed. The instructor seems quite nervous and unsure of himself while he is talking, But its quite clear he knows what he's doing. The biggest issue is how dated this is. He's using a version of 3ds max from 2007ish? And talking about specs such as poly count and texture size from a time when Oblivion was a state of the art game. if you want to get the most out of this course what I'd advise is this. Bump up your poly count whenever he talks about reducing it and double his texture sizes. By doing this myself I was able to create some fairly presentable objects. Listen to this man, especially when hes talking about photoshop he really does know what he's doing even if this program is over 5 years old. In the end I don't think I can recommend this program for the almost $400 it regularly costs. But for $8 its fantastic. I'd like to also ad the entire section on scripts is so out dated half the scripts no longer work, I'm really disappointed. I've progressed further and it has improved. I am noticeably better after following this.

This course is excellent for beginners, like me. I have had very little experience in game art, but this has been teaching me something new in every video. The only issue so far is a minor one, and it is the use of the outdated 3ds Max software. However, so far I haven't run into any problems following along. I have already recommended this class to others.
