Course Description
Hi there! In this course, we’ll teach you from a complete beginner's perspective with absolutely no knowledge of programming. We’ll then build you up and teach you all the key skills, so by the end of the course you’ll be confident in programming within Visual Basic.
I've taught myself how to programme and have been avidly programming for 10+ years. My aim of the course is to use this experience to help beginners learn the very basics and fundamentals of coding. I decided to choose Visual Basic as it's a nice starter language. It doesn't throw you too far into the deep end; it slowly works its way up whilst keeping things simpler and easier to understand.
You’ll learn all the key points of Visual Basic .NET, as well as all the fundamentals of programming. Since Visual Basic has a more forgiving style, this means that your knowledge can be easily ported across to other programming languages. Additionally, there are four key challenges throughout the course. These are mini projects used to test your understanding. In my experience, I have found that a mixture of consuming and actually doing is the best way to learn.
So that’s a quick outline of the course. Hopefully you enjoyed it! So let’s not waste any more time and we’ll get started! Dive in with us and I’ll see you inside.

Outdated. Current Visual Studio installation screens differ from those presented. Variable chart is incorrect, with references not matching lecture.

This could be a good course for a beginner. I have some experience with older versions of Visual Basic and took this course as a refresher. And, I used MS basic from back in the Commodore 64 days. Suggestions for improvement: The use of the Console command for input and output was new to me. A beginner might not understand why this function is important. A brief lesson on the Console command might be helpful. The use of Global variables is considered bad form in modern high-level languages, such as Visual Basic. Showing the student that variables can be declared in Subroutines and Functions would also be helpful. This is a suggestion. Finally, Large Language Models (AI) can be an invaluable asset for a student. The student could get the syntax for commands. I would recommend letting the students know this is available if you revise this course. Also, book recommendations would be helpful.

Data types claimed to show how it is written in the program it said, but does not show it.

Some of the videos were cut short. Could have shown more examples to get better understanding on the coding. Overall could have been better.

Why are there errors? Such as Character and Integer in the chart swapped. The Variable example used integer = 39 but the discussion was mentioning 5
