What do Udemy students say about this Public Relations course?

"5 Stars! Covered all the essential elements necessary to handle crisis communications with brevity and clarity. I especially liked the Bonus materials and of course, the video. Referring to one major case study to get the points across is very effective. The only reason I did not give this a 5-star rating is because I believe this course will be more helpful if there were video transcripts or if each video lesson can be downloaded and saved for later reference or review. Thank you." Helga Melgar

"5 Stars! This course is an excellent introduction to how crisis communications works and TJ gives tips on how a company can best preserve its image and reputation should it go through a crisis. I would recommend this course to others." Margaret Lovell

"5 Stars! I've learned from TJ for a number of years and he absolutely knows what it takes to work with the media and win!" Janet Vasil

"5 Stars! The instructor gave very clear and practical advice. He made me come to love Crisis Communications even more!" Abi-Gail Johnson

"5 Stars! Someone once said advice is only as good as the amount you pay for it... this course disproves this. This clear unambiguous advice given is priceless. The BP breakdown was excellent, in short, if you're in a position where you need to understand crisis management, this is the course to start with. The bonus materials are really good as well." Alan Miller

This exercise deepened my understanding of the importance of timely, accurate, and responsible communication, especially during crises. As Head of the Public Affairs Unit, I realized that effective crisis communication requires preparation, clear messaging, and transparency to maintain public trust and protect the organization’s credibility. I also learned that strong communication skills are valuable not only in the workplace but also in personal interactions, particularly in handling conflicts with empathy and professionalism. Overall, the exercise strengthened my confidence and commitment to becoming a more strategic and effective communicator.

The Power of Perspective: Understanding that different perspectives are critical for effective problem-solving. Shifting your viewpoint allows you to see solutions that were previously hidden by your own biases.

Great match for me.

I took this crisis communication course at a time when the topic doesn’t feel distant or theoretical at all—it’s something we experience constantly at the office. Over time, I’ve learned that some jobs aren’t done only with planning, but also with emotional endurance. Crisis communication is one of them, because it demands clear thinking when the environment is intense, urgent, and often unfair. In our day-to-day work we deal with highly sensitive issues, which sometimes intersect with politics and with interests that don’t always aim to inform, but to apply pressure. And when your company embraces a low-profile philosophy to protect its investment, it becomes a delicate balance: not exposing yourself unnecessarily, but also not allowing silence or caution to turn into a vacuum that others fill with their own versions, rumors, or attacks. From a public relations perspective, what we do has often felt marathon-like and, more than once, almost miraculous—not because we lack capability, but because the context can feel uneven. There are moments when political pressure has been used as a tool to shape the narrative and push some media outlets, out of fear, to become more negatively critical than informative. And when that happens, it’s not only about responding; it’s about staying calm, protecting the organization, being careful with tone, taking care of people, and still maintaining credibility. What I value most about this course is that it gave me back something that can get lost in urgency: structure. It helped me put names to what we’ve already been facing and organize what used to depend more on instinct and accumulated experience. I’m taking away practical tools to act more methodically: preparing the team, defining roles, anticipating tough questions, aligning messages for different audiences, and communicating with more clarity in moments when everything moves fast. But above all, the course left me with an idea that stays with me: a crisis isn’t managed only through “reaction”—it’s managed through preparation. And that preparation doesn’t only protect the company; it also protects those of us on the human side who have to hold communication together under pressure. In that sense, this learning feels practical and necessary: it helps me face crises with better judgment, stronger focus, and less improvisation. Thank you! Gracias!

Great course, One of the most vital takeaways is that in a crisis, timely and honest communication is paramount. The quicker you acknowledge an issue, the more control you maintain over the narrative. Waiting to respond or covering up can create more damage in the long run. People (and the media) will notice if you're not being upfront.

The course was well prepared, but the number of tests was insane, having to answer over 200 questions for such a short course is excessive. I felt like writing a lenghty exam that would never end. For every 3-4 minutes of learning there was one question. There is no need to write a 10 question test for every 30 minutes of study material.

There was a lot of information that I'd never heard before and I appreciated that there was limited repeating of the same things. The case studies were also very interesting. I wish you'd been even more specific about the context of the case studies, though.
