I just completed the course, so I thought I'd leave a review, I guess. I took this course cause i wanted basically a beginner-level understanding of how things are laid out on QuantConnect. It will help you navigate how you should proceed i guess, mostly cause it's not that easy to understand what QuantConnect needs for it to make your algorithm. The doc is basically a large pond of info, and with no way to really navigate what's required. So this course did clear that up, thanks for making it, i did enjoy the course its probably apparent that the course is a little out of date, but hear me out, it turns out that everyone seems to be out of date aha, so do bear that in mind, but its most just "_" and lower case, over caps. The end does get a little trickly cause the documentation is wayyyyyyyyyyyy different overall its pretty good. It would be cool if Jose made a course that was completely focused on quant connects ability and show cased allot of the things you can do, while expanding on different ways to use python with quant. i feel that he kept things way to seprate, rather than teaching the ideas he had together in parallel. by time you make it to the quant selection, you basically forget what was taught and have to double back. but yeah i liked it, it could be updated, but honestly i think allot of work went into it so maybe just make a new course instead aha!!

This is a spectacular course. I've taken a few other courses from Jose, and they've always been of the highest quality instruction. There are many 'algorithmic trading' course options on Udemy to choose from, but when I saw that Jose had a course on it, it was an immediately obvious choice which course to start with on my new journey! Thanks, Jose!

Jose explains most things very well. Getting towards the QuntConnect section, he seems to be rushing to get through the material and finish the project vs explaining each line like he did in the first half. He doesn't use as much #commenting. This would have been more helpful as things get more complicated. Also, I feel like the course is something like, "we'll teach you to build a 10x12 shed so you have the skill to build a 4,000 sqft house." Technically, there is a lot of really great stuff here, but a good portion of it was given a context that was more like comparing pasta to apples, and not oranges to apples. I understand these instructors don't want to "give away the farm" but just coding full strategies for us, but there has to be some happy middle ground where we can build even a simple stratedy, backtest it, and implement it. I feel like this would be a good way to wrap things up. Overall, I'm very glad I took this and I'll be looking to see what other material he has out there.

I recently completed this Python for finance and algorithmic trading course, and it was an excellent introduction to algo trading. As my first experience with algorithmic trading, I was surprised by how powerful QuantConnect is, and Jose Portilla made learning it easy and enjoyable. His teaching style is clear, concise, and incredibly engaging. The course is well-organized, and I found the explanations straightforward, which helped me grasp even the more complex topics. Highly recommend this course to anyone looking to get started in finance and algorithmic trading!

This was yet another course I took from this teacher. The course is clear and well structured. Materials are well prepared. It saved me a lot of time of the guess game how actually the QuantConnect works. However, since the time the course was recorder things have changed at QC's end. So you're gonna have some hard time figuring out why some things do not work and how to make them work. Anyway, that can be kind of a homework.

Excellent course that combines these key elements: Python key libraries, quant finance, quant research, backtesting, and Quant Connect platform. The material is also very updated with the introduction of various post-pandemic data sources. Definitely recommend!

The course is very comprehensive and covers all the bases from Python and algorithms POV. Section 10 changed as Lean Engine has it's own documentation page and section 11 has only notebooks and no videos (yet), but description of the course matches the content and Jose's delivery is a golden standard of training :) Well done Jose, thank you for another great course!

The course is very well structured and Jose does an excellent job explaining all aspects of trading on Quantconnect. I would have given the course five stars had it also covered Quantconnect's algorithm framework. I hope that Jose will cover the algorithm framework in additional videos in the future or maybe cover them in a different course.

All explanations are complete and easy. The proposed exercises are a great way to test your skills. The QuantConnect platform was a huge eye opener for me! it blows my mind! At the end of the course I expected a great closing exercise, which is not there, but there are many trading ideas exposed to try and back test them on your own on the Quantconnect platform.

A bit to much focus on using QuantConnect in stead of general explanation of the concepts (buting, selling equaties, backtesting and using data to research stocks and testing the strategies. The first part was a very good explaintion of how to use pandas, matplotlib and numpy. The second part felt like a manual for QuantConnect. Still a usefull course but could be better.
