Course Description

Learn the Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies by building one - Python backend, React frontend.

When this course first launched, Bitcoin was just $11,000. Today, it’s soared past $116,000 per coin - a more than tenfold increase that reflects just how far blockchain technology has come.

The blockchain industry has proven itself. And now, this course - one of the top-rated and bestselling programs on blockchains, cryptocurrencies, Python, and React - has been remastered for 2025, guiding you step-by-step through building a fully functioning blockchain and cryptocurrency system from scratch.

Why Take This Course

Because it combines theory, engineering, and real coding practice into one cohesive journey. You won’t just learn about blockchains - you’ll build one, extend it into a cryptocurrency, and connect it to a modern React.js frontend.

Whether you’re a beginner, an experienced developer, or someone exploring software engineering through emerging tech, this course gives you the full picture - backend to frontend, concept to deployment.

Along the way, you’ll gain fluency in:

  • Python fundamentals - data structures, object-oriented programming, and testing with pytest.

  • Blockchain mechanics - hashing, proof of work, mining, and consensus.

  • Cryptocurrency systems - wallets, keys, transactions, and digital signatures.

  • Web development - Flask APIs, networking, and JSON serialization.

  • Frontend engineering - React, React Hooks, and clean, component-driven UI.

  • Full-stack integration - connecting Python and React into one live blockchain application.

You’ll walk away with a portfolio-ready project that showcases your understanding of how decentralized systems and modern web applications work from the inside out.

What You’ll Build

Every major concept ties directly to a hands-on build:

  1. The Blockchain - Implement real blocks, cryptographic hashing, and a chain structure that grows securely over time.

  2. Proof of Work - Add mining logic, difficulty adjustment, and a tamper-proof ledger.

  3. The Blockchain Network - Connect nodes through APIs and Pub/Sub messaging.

  4. The Cryptocurrency - Create wallets, digital signatures, and transactions backed by real validation rules.

  5. The Frontend - Build a complete React interface with blockchain visualization, wallet balances, and live transaction data.

By the end, you’ll have your own working blockchain and cryptocurrency system - not just code that runs, but software that teaches you why it works.

Course Journey at a Glance

  1. Python Fundamentals – Get comfortable coding in Python, preparing for the blockchain build ahead.

  2. Start the Blockchain Application – Create the first working blockchain using blocks, hashes, and mining.

  3. Testing the Application – Learn to use pytest and adopt a test-driven mindset.

Honestly i am LOVING this course! But I have to say to instructor: "Buddy, its 2025. Python and its related libraries have updated dramatically. Even with your Requirements.txt file having the versions I need, the Python VENV has other libraries which conflicts and I cant run Flask. I had to keep downgrading every library one by one and STILL Flask didnt work. Other way dont work. If I use latest Python libraries, your code errors out because some of your coding is designed for old Python and I dont know what to change. A re-do would be great. no extra video, just tweak your codes to incorporate the new Python and share github link for us"

Where's the rest? The author is extremely knowledgeable about programming and has excellent delivery. Unfortunately, the course leaves a ton of information out. Instead the author suggests these critical features as add-ons that you could do yourself. If you're looking for an absolute bare bones blockchain and cryptocurrency project that will be of little use to you when you're done, this is it. If you're looking for a more advanced project with a blueprint for launch, a mining application, a user application, an onboarding solution and a plan for how to create an initial coin offering, this is not for you. The author has created a very good product, I just wish he finished it.

Already this video is extremely informative and is as hands-on as it gets. I love it. Update: there is absolutely no better way to learn how blockchains work (even using the same encryption methods that bitcoins blockchain uses).. I was hoping to be get some kind of working scripts for writing smart contracts (maybe some Vyper) but after doing ALL of this i can guarantee ill be able to go to Vyper documentation (already know some Solidity) and completely be ready to work any kinds of contracts in a blockchain) Update: I'm about 40% through the course. and this is the REAL f*in DEAL.. there's absolutely no way to get through this course without understanding blockchain and probably being ready to be a leader in the DEFI space, (given the proper drive to succeed). I'm hoping there's somewhere that mentions something about Vyper.. would be awesome. will give another update!

Dear David, Thank you for such an awesome course, initially I thought that there was something missing from the course in terms of how node/peer work in a blockchain network but when I followed along with some other youtube tutorials I understood that your implementation was perfect. Looking forward to your other course on fullstack cryptochain course. Best of luck for future course, awesome content. Thanks.

I greatly appreciate the instructor's manner of initiating me (the learner) to new concepts by both immersion and application while reviewing in further detail, later. This helps me move beyond hangups and enables me to better appreciate the "journey" of learning this course's material while still being able to pick up on key concepts while not having to worry too much about "sponging" everything @ 100% fidelity before moving on.

Excellent course material which provided a useful combination of both Python/Flask backend APIs and React/JS front-end development. A nice addition would have been the ability to store the blockchain and related transactions in a database instead of in server memory. Very informative overall and the basic concepts of a blockchain and cryptocurrency were thoroughly explained.

I thought this was a really fantastic, fun, and well-planned course. I cannot speak to the beginner's experience, as I am an employed software engineer, but I certainly enjoyed learning about how blockchain works by taking this course. David takes his time to go into detail and explain the why behind various programming and blockchain concepts. The course is full of content, rewarding, and fun. The course project is very neat and extensible. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in Python or blockchain, as well as developers wanting to learn new use cases/paradigms for Python. Thanks, David!

David really takes you step by step from understanding concepts, planning, reasoning, testing and implementing a real world app. I would really recommend this course for students who have slight knowledge of programming as this would help in catching on really fast! However, I would not recommend it to students who are just starting out learning programming

Having a blockchain business idea, this course helped me a great deal towards building a prototype demo. Having extensive prior knowledge of blockchain and some of python definitely was a bonus, the React piece was more difficult to understand completely. All in all, the scope of this project makes this a fantastic course and the instructor provides quick support when necessary. Great and valuable learning experience! Thanks David!

I came to this course with experience in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency development. However, I never implemented such a system with Python. So, for me this course was a training exercise. Building the course's app itself is great for educational purposes, it gives you confidence to go ahead and plan to build a real-world app, of course after further advanced research. This course is beginner/intermediate level, it is rich in educational materials, and it flows smoothly. It's enjoyable to go through it and I rated it five stars comfortably.
