Python - The Practical Guide (Udemy.com)

I bought this course a couple of years ago for two reasons: one was to work with another language rather than JavaScript (this is my ninth year as a Front-End Developer), and the other was because I was interested in learning Blockchain basics (which is the main course exercise to learn through Python). After all this time, I took the time needed to complete all the exercises and learn many new things, which left me with two remarkable aspects to mention about Maximilian's teachings. First, the course's length is shorter than the others (I have studied Typescript, Angular, and Next with him before), and its content is much more focused on the language, its syntax, and how to handle different data structures. Its learning curve is good enough to present challenges with the right amount of difficulty, where each module (except the last ones) comes with an assignment to reinforce what you have learned. Then, the course final modules (creating a RESTful server with Flask and handling multiple nodes with blockchain consensus mechanics) represent a significant leap in logical complexity after having worked on the other modules. It left me tired but with a new kind of understanding that I was not expecting from the course (having in mind that it is for beginners). It is one of Maximilian's best courses, and I recommend it to anyone interested. Worth the effort and the cost.

Overall, the course is well explained, but its main focus is on blockchain technology. Anyone who simply wants to learn Python on its own could do so more easily elsewhere. Again, it’s well taught, but it’s more complex than what someone would need if they just want to apply Python to their own projects. It’s a good course for those who want to learn about Bitcoin, blockchain, and related technology, but if you just want to use Python for your own purposes, it might be overkill.

It was a great course. Really challenging project. Being interested in both Python and blockchain, I can't say it disappointed me. Pros: 1. Max - great teacher 2. All necessary Python and Blockchain concepts covered Some cons though: 1. Old content - based on Python 3.6, i.e. year 2018... We've got 10/2024. Even though course overview says "Last updated 11/2023", the content was not updated (example: claiming there is no switch statement, but 3.10 released in 2021 introduced match, which is exactly that) 2. Lower quality of the last module "The Node Network" (speeding through implementation of more advanced blockchain topics, more chaotic approach/errors). If both cons were remediated, I'd give 5 stars instead of 4. But overall, I'd still recommend the course.

This was an incredible and well put together course. The instructor is very knowledgeable and takes you from having no knowledge of python to an advanced level in python. The course does not just teach you theory of python by explaining these concepts but rather teaches those concept by having you build a realistic project from start to finish. The project you will be building is a blockchain where you use many of python features such as classes, functions, inheritance, third party modules, as well as writing clean code, organising your code into different files, using pep8, etc all explained by the instructor. Although the course is not blockchain course but a python course but by the end of the course you learn what a block chain is and how to build one. Before coming to course I had no idea of what a blockchain was, sure I heard it mentioned on social media and on the internet but that as far my knowledge went but that changed by the end of the course and it will for you. What I especially love about the instructor style of teaching apart from the ease of the way he explains things is whenever he uses a concept from another programming language he also explains whether that concept can be found in python. For example when he used the "switch" statement which is native to JavaScript he explained that it does not exists in the Python language. Since the time of the course a few things have changed in Python that are not reflected in the course which is to be expected. For example there is no need to use ordered dictionary anymore because Python now retains the order of the dictionary. This was implemented in Python 3.7 but for anyone using Python 3.6 or less they would need to import ordered dictionary. In fact after I finish the course I went back and removed the ordered dictionary and it still worked. Note, I am using Python 3.9 What is next for me. Well, I am going to build a flight booking system just like the instructor mentioned and I also going to finish the others courses I brought from the instructor as well. For anyone looking for a Python course this course is for you. I am not going to lie it is hard but worth it, there were several times when my code broke down and it took me days or even a week to find out where the error was but isn't that part of learning process.

Your blockchain example for python for practise is pathetic.

I have read books and viewed other Python courses on Udemy- by far this has been my favorite because its plugged a lot of holes missing from other courses I have taken. I feel the the practicality and the code used to teach the concepts are what the pros would use themselves. I have learned the basics from other courses but this course has allowed me to put it all together. I wish I'd found this course sooner.

The way Max teaches is Amazing.!!

Since I have problems with listening to people, I would like to say Max has a calming voice and clearly knows his stuff... I am only a beginner and we will see how it will pan out at the end :)
