Course Description
*** The Bestseller for quantum physics & Part of the udemy business collection ***
"Phenomenal course!! Prior to this course, I thought I would never be able to understand quantum mechanics. I would certainly recommend this course to anyone that is interested in learning quantum mechanics.“ - Maximus Akrem Nwider
"I have learned more theory here than in a semester in a university course. The information is incredibly well organized. I cannot express the insanely good quality of this course." - Aaron
This course is for everyone: beginner to expert!
We will cover the whole band width of quantum mechanics starting from the initial experimental observations and ending up with relativistic quantum theory.
Quantum mechanics is arguably among the most fascinating fields of science.
It has made numerous appearances in modern pop-culture and is present in our everyday lives. Still, it is also very challenging to get a grasp at this topic - even understanding the most fundamental concepts can be very difficult without instructions.
However, I think that this most fascinating field of science is often taught either too vague or with a too strong focus on the mathematics. Instead of watching random Youtube videos or going through hundred of hours of university courses, I think that Udemy courses are a nice platform for purposeful learning. You are kindly invited to join this carefully prepared course that will teach you the 101 of quantum physics.
Why me?
My name is Börge and I am a postdoc working as a scientist in quantum theory. Due to my expertise in the field (more than 10 years), I know which topics are most important and which parts can be cut short (especially the very dry parts). I have not forgotten the time when I learned about quantum physics and still remember the problems that I and other students had. I have refined my advisor skills as a tutor of Bachelor, Master and PhD students in theoretical physics.
This course is for you if you ...
... have ever wondered what is the big deal with quantum physics
... want to know why we need quantum physics
... want to learn the methods how to actually calculate quantum problems like the tunnel effect
... want to walk comfortably in the quantum world without being totally overwhelmed by its difficult language
... have interest in popular physics phenomena like quantum computing or superconductivity and want to understand their core ideas and relations to quantum mechanics
... are about to attend a university course
... if you have already attend a university course and want to learn what comes next
or
... if you simply want to have a carefully condensed refresher before your exams :-)

Dr. Börge Göbel
Hi, my name is Börge, I am a theoretical physicist working in the field for more than 10 years. I have been supervising several Bachelor, Master and PhD students and I am an experienced instructor on physics, mathematics and programming-related topics and want to spark your excitement for science. I will help you to become knowledgeable and successful in the STEM fields. Understanding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics basically guarantees you to have a successful career and to be able to make the world a better place. However, getting into these extremely fascinating topics can be frustrating: They are often taught either too loosely or with a too strong focus on the mathematics.
My all-in-one courses are exactly the courses I wish I had when I was first getting into university-level mathematics, physics & programming!
You will benefit no matter what your skill level is: from ‘interested newcomer’ to ‘experienced university student’. Each beginner friendly course (mathematical basics included) condenses more than a whole semester of university to about 10h-20h of time-efficient videos, exercises, quizzes, and real-world examples.

I am a complete novice. Having the clear and very calm explanations provided is helping me to understand the overall theories (which is what I am most interested in). The math helps to put the base in place for me to visualize the complexity of quantum mechanics.

It's a great course and explains topics well; I'm just having a hard time understanding his use of vocabulary. I often have to go out and find more and different explanations of the same topics. Not bad, and what someone should be doing anyway.

Dr. Göbel ability to teach one of the most complicated topics of the modern world is out of this world. I have learned a lot more in this course compared to some courses in university. The exercises were also great, just maybe some additional exercises near the end would have been great too. Overall I am still extremely satisfied because I have learned a lot of new things, so vielen Dank an Sie Dr. Göbel. For all people interested: even though the structure and the materials are great, this course is still extremely difficult especially the relativistic quantum theory part, expect to rewatch a lot and also do a lot of own exercises and research of you really want to understand something. Especially if you are like me, who comes from a different department (computer science), you will need to put in much time and effort to actually understand the material. I would still recommend it to anyone who is really interested in this topic, because I believe quantum physics is one of the coolest things you can learn about.

An excellent course, covering all the basics all the way through to the begining of relativistic QM! So well presented. Warning though - to get the full value out of the course you need to have a good calculus and linear algebra background if you want to follow the details.
By Thomas Kerle on 10/22/2023
The course provided me with a great deal of knowledge about quantum mechanics and also included topics that are currently being covered in the context of quantum theory. Mathematical difficulties for solutions to problems are covered in detail, so the study in the first two years of physics and mathematics is sufficient to follow. More challenging topics such as the Dirac equation are treated with great dedication and it is even shown how a quantum computer can be realized. The presentation is good and very structured. All in all, a successful course.

Dr Borge Gobel offers a one of a kind class...! Advanced calculus and detailed narratives cover the essence of quantum physics and offered me understanding of what has been a lifetime goal for me since early youth. To understand the math of quanta! Wonderful explanations, I strongly suggest this class.

I think in general it is totally what I expected! Some detailed remarks: -> The added resources (exercises mostly) are in png-format. Pdf would be nicer and some nicer formatting (title etc) could be considered. -> I do better on the quizes then, I think, my level is; the quizes are a bit too easy I think.

While there was quite a bit of mathematical gymnastics taking place, this was the stitched together material I was looking for that tied the slower paced courses on QC, and Quantum Math I had been taking with a bit more of the Quantum Physics aspects. I appreciated how the instructor gave nice prompts about you can skip the math, and get to his points about why the math was needed.

An amazing course in quantum mechanics. All explanations are very clear and orderly, exercises are really good to see whether you have already understood the topic. If you already have a background in quantum physics, you will enjoy the entire course; otherwise, you will probably run into some problems in the later lectures.
By António Alberto Ginó on 4/19/2022
Progress is slow. I think some explanations are not as clear as they could be because they come with some unnecessary information that makes the issues more difficult to understand. One would wish for a difficult subject to become easier and not the other way around.
