Course Description
"Thanks for being a great inspiration as well, especially taking out your time to compile these courses on Udemy. You do an amazing job!" -- Oochay
Welcome to Real World SQL Server From The Ground Up.
SQL Server is one of the most complicated software offerings Microsoft has.
This builds upon my course "How To Begin Your Career As a SQL Server DBA." If you have't taken it please sign up an take it now. It's FREE!!
This course is my first course filmed entirely in 1080P.
This is the first in a multi-part series of courses on SQL Server Administration.
You need a solid foundation in networking, databases and programming. This wide range of skills is often difficult to obtain without rigorous learning and years of hands on experience.
This course is the first in a two part series that covers much of the foundation of what SQL Server DBAs do and what skills they need to attain in order to excel at their jobs.
All of my courses have a real world on component to them. We will cover the topics in our lectures then apply most of them to real world scenarios.
The REWARDS YOU will OBTAIN are worth the effort. Here are just a few. DBAs are very well compensated. YOU will get to work with some of the SMARTEST people in the IT world. You'll LEARN something EVERY DAY. The profession has been and will continue to be one of the highest growth professions. You'll often get to work remotely.
SQL Server Database Administrators are responsible for the design, implementation, support and maintenance of SQL Server Databases. The role also includes architecting, building and scaling databases for future data growth and capacity.
DBA are also responsible for security, performance and availability of data to users and customers.
This course will give you some direction on how to begin your journey as a SQL Server DBA. I don't want to create any false promises. In addition to years of experience most Senior Level SQL Server resources have read a voluminous amount of product related material.
WE have to start somewhere and THIS COURSE will provide you with the REAL WORLD insight YOU need in order to start your journey.
If YOU are seriously interested in either starting out on the path to becoming a SQL Server Database Administrator the YOU'LL need two key ingredients. Experience and product knowledge. Experience might not be easy to get but it will be impossible if you don't have a very solid foundation in SQL Server.
ENROLL now. Let's get started!!!

I'm the founder of LogikBot. I've worked at Microsoft and Uber. I helped design courses for Microsoft's Data Science Certifications. If you're interested in machine learning, I can help.
I've worked with databases for over two decades. I've worked for or consulted with over 50 different companies as a full time employee or consultant. Fortune 500 as well as several small to mid-size companies. Some include: Georgia Pacific, SunTrust, Reed Construction Data, Building Systems Design, NetCertainty, The Home Shopping Network, SwingVote, Atlanta Gas and Light and Northrup Grumman.
Over the last five years I've transitioned to the exciting world of applied machine learning. I'm excited to show you what I've learned and help you move into one of the single most important fields in this space.
Experience, education and passion
I learn something almost every day. I work with insanely smart people. I'm a voracious learner of all things SQL Server and I'm passionate about sharing what I've learned. My area of concentration is performance tuning. SQL Server is like an exotic sports car, it will run just fine in anyone's hands but put it in the hands of skilled tuner and it will perform like a race car.

The small course jumps all over the place, assuming that you know SQL server first. The instructions are poor and lacking in detail. The course is mostly made up of text and the quizzes at the end of each section don't ask questions that were covered in the lesson material. Not good!

It's a really great course! I just recomend you speak a bit louder, i had difficulty to listen even at max output. It's easier to lower than upper the sound.

The instructor (Mike) uses drawings, lectures, and readings to enhance the learning experience. Mike made the class very fun, but educational, too. A nice achievement in teaching an online class.

I was looking for a basic understanding of SQL Server, which I not exactly what I got. I got more of a fundamental understanding of Databases. I expected to actually get trained in the use of SQL Server and more detail in more than just general facts.

I found the course to be a good intro for people with no experience. The one area I would ask the instructor to improve would be to not assume the user is familiar with the IDE. For example, he would open a new query window, write and execute some DDL, then write some DML in the same window after. Unless you are familiar you would not know that the IDE allows you to highlight and execute only the highlighted code in the query window. This would lead to frustration for a beginner who is trying to follow along and simply misses that the instructor highlighted only a portion of the queries on the screen.

This course is good for beginners , but I am not happy regarding the quality of voice in these lectures , it suddenly diminishes away and you have to carefully listen , each and every word of the instructor in order to get something out of the lecture. Overall , good course and thing I love most is that the course is beautifully organized with summary and useful quizzes at end of every topic.

The teacher was very clear and spoke in simple terms, which is very useful for a beginner like me. I like when he used a new term, that he quickly explained it or said that he would later explain.

The speed of the videos are a little fast. I like to be able to work along side the videos, I find I have to pause and back up often to catch what is being done. However, other than that. this is very helpful, after I finish the entire class I will keep reviewing it unitl it becomes second nature.

This is the best course on SQL Server (with more on T-SQL) suitable for intermediates and all other kinds of levels. It's got the key feature required to make a course the best, lecturers knowledge on the subject at hand. This lecturer doesn't just teach, he preaches (there's a difference). He's an SQL Server Evangelist indeed!
