Course Description

Ever dreamed of seeing your book on Amazon?

Think about it. Your name on the cover. Your words reaching readers worldwide. A decade ago, that dream might have seemed out of reach. Traditional publishing often meant facing a mountain of rejection, sharing profits with agents, and navigating a long, exhausting process.

But now? Thanks to Amazon, self-publishing is within your grasp. In just 48 hours after submitting your book, it can be available on the largest online bookstore in the world. Imagine holding your own paperback or seeing your book on your Kindle. It’s not just a dream anymore—it’s a real possibility.

Self-Publishing on Amazon: Your Step-by-Step Guide

I’ve been doing this since 2012—writing and publishing my own books on Amazon. It’s been an amazing way to build an extra stream of income, and I want to share what I’ve learned with you.

This course is designed to take you from the very beginning through every step of the self-publishing journey. No hype, no flashy numbers—just straightforward guidance. You’ll learn how to self-publish your book in both Kindle format and as a paperback.

I’ll start by sharing a bit about my own journey—why I got into self-publishing and how I made it work. Then, we’ll dive into the process, from brainstorming your book idea to formatting and publishing it.

Here’s a peek at what you’ll learn:

  • Market Research: Discover whether your book idea has potential before you invest your time.

  • Book Planning: My process for creating a clear, structured plan—even if you’re writing non-fiction.

  • Formatting Tips: How to set up your Word processor to make the formatting easy and professional.

  • Design and Submission: Learn to create a simple yet appealing cover and navigate the submission process smoothly.

  • Marketing Strategies: How to launch your book, set up your author profile, and take advantage of Amazon’s promotional tools.

  • Paperback Conversion: Turn your Kindle book into a paperback, complete with professional formatting.

Plus, you’ll get practical tips like:

  • How to correctly format bullet points and hyperlinks for Kindle.

  • Why certain fonts are a no-go and where to find the right ones.

  • How to add images that look great, without losing quality.

  • Why page numbers matter, even for a Kindle book.

  • When to consider hiring an editor and how to do it cost-effectively.

Make Your Book a Reality

Publishing doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. You don’t need to worry about printing costs or inventory. Amazon handles all that for you. Your job is to write—and with the right guidance, you’ll know how to present your book professionally.

Picture it: your own book available not just in your country, but on Amazon worldwide—France, Germany, Japan, Australia... everywhere.

This course is about making that happen. No pressure, just practical steps to bring your book to life. Whether you’re writing your first book or your tenth, this guide will give you the confidence and skills to self-publish successfully.

Your story deserves to be shared. Let’s make it happen. Get started today!

Andrew Williams

I have written and published a number of books that are available on Amazon, including books on WordPress ("WordPress for Beginners 2026"), Self-Publishing ("Self-Publishing on Amazon 2025"), and A.I. (NotebookLM Mastery, ChatGPT for Beginners, ChatGPT for Seniors, AI for Students).

I also run a website called ezSEONews, where I provide tutorials on a number of skills required for running a successful website.

As an ex-schoolteacher, I hope I can make complicated topics simple to understand.  I certainly enjoy trying!

An interesting and fascinating course on self-publishing. Very useful for all genres, even though this was more catered towards non-fiction. There were a lot of useful tips, tricks, and resources and it was easy to understand as someone who is just embracing this self-publishing adventure.

I am a complete novice in this field, so the course was very useful for me. I think it contains everything I need to get started. Andy has a natural gift for explaining even the more complex problems in simple language and illustrating his arguments with various screenshots, drawings etc. For top quality - and therefore maximum rating - there are a few things missing for me. Andy's voice is very monotonous, kind of muffled, which makes it hard to focus on the long run and does not emphasize the key points of the lecture. I also noticed some technical glitches, e.g. after adding section 8, unit 54 should have been changed; or in the recommended resources under "Free tools" we have "EDraw Max - Paid PC diagramming software".

the content is explained well. the visuals are helpful. the information is what the beginner needs to know. If I were to be a bit picky I would suggest that there needs to be more attention to necessary movement of the mouse. In other words decide beforehand where it's going and move it slow enough for the observer to see where it's destination. Perhaps use settings to give it a tail to make its progress more visible.

So far so good. Very helpful, clear, keeping things simple. I was disappointed with the amount of time spent talking about Create Space only to learn later that you don't use Create Space anymore, so this course is out of date. During the course, with Amazon's papaerpack option, the instructor says "Don't use this. It probably won't work," or something like that. But then it turns out that if I have not been using Create Space in the past, I cannot use Create Space to publish paperbacks with Amazon anymore. Also, I understand that there is some way you need to choose your book category if you want to increase your chances of being a best-seller. I have watched many free videos on Amazon publishing, and I cannot find more information on this. I was hoping that with a paid course, this specialized knowledge would be included. I did not completely understand what you were saying about the copyright issues with fonts. Can I just use Microsoft's Arial or Times New Roman? Or do I have to get some other font somewhere else? If I get a font from another source, how do I use it and make sure everything uploads properly to the Amazon platform. All in all, I don't feel completely ready and confident to publish on Amazon. It seems like there will still be a good bit of trial and error, which I was trying to avoid, as I am publishing a book for a professional who wants to make sure the first publication is up to professional standards. But I did find the formatting information valuable including how to best format using Word and how the Table of Contents formatting works. I am satisfied with the course. Thank you.

My mom wrote a book and had several on kindle already. I used this awesome course to publish the kindle and paperback versions. It was so helpful. Andy Williams is the best teacher ever. Explaining all the parts in the book details section was so helpful. I will read everything Andy has written. Every time I read his books they are complete and take me from the beginning to the end of the process. No other books I have read do that. No rock is left unturned. Thanks a Million Andy!!

So I've just edited my review to a smidgeon under five stars. Mr. Williams is hands down the best instructor I've found on Udemy, and I've bought over 140 courses. Sadly, there are many on here who a) never update their courses, so more than half of their material is defunct and irrelevant and b) never reply to questions that you ask. Happy to say that's not the case with this instructor. He is always on top of his course material. If something new comes along or features have changed, he's on it. Also, every question I've fired off has been answered, almost always within 24 hrs. Impressive, given the number of courses he has. The only reason I didn't give it the full five stars is confusion regarding the NCX stuff for Kindle. Now, that's probably me because I'm a techno-peasant (and I don't see others mentioning it) but I've had several author friends who've never heard of it, claim it's not necessary i.e. that KDP does it automatically. For whatever reason, I couldn't get it to work. If you're a tech-savvy youngster, you can probably rest assured that it's all good and add the missing half-star. Good job as always Dr Williams. PS: His building Word Press website course is great if that interests you. As I said, even as a Luddite techno-peasant, I've built several for my various businesses, all by following Dr Williams's course.

This course is a Godsend. I wish I had found it sooner. The instructor, Dr. Andy Williams, is in the top 1% of Udemy instructors. I can't imagine a better instructor. He anticipates questions and answers them thoroughly. Also, he responded to my question within an hour. The course is detailed and Dr. Williams walks you, step by step, through the process of publishing on Kindle and Create Space. If you want to publish yourself, this is the course to take. It will save you countless heartache and frustration and ensure you publish a quality book.

Brilliant course! As a complete beginner, I was worried I didn't know where to start and thought I'd have to find specialists to do all the things Andy taught in this course. Now I feel confident I can do most of it myself. Thank you very much. I would highly recommend this course and Andy as an outstanding tutor.

As always, Dr. Andy is very thorough in his presentations and sincerely interested in helping you succeed. The lessons are in very manageable sections so you can easily watch throughout the day as you have small blocks of time.

Very comprehensive coverage of using Amazon Kindle for self publication. I look forward to the lectures on CreateSpace as I expect to benefit more from that publication method rather than Kindle. Lectures are presented in an information-rich fluent manner.
