Shopify Theme Development: Online Store 3.0 + TailwindCSS (Udemy.com)

I rate this course in this way because it's said in the description of the course, as of today, that it was updated January 2026, which is not true by any means, it's outdated. Doesn't cover a modern theme architecture, doesn't cover about theme blocks, doesn't cover about web component, doesn't cover a modern CI with GitHub. Plus he uses AlpineJS instead of vanilla JS, which was not mentioned. The navigation section has poor logic that I had to refactor in modern terms due to AlpineJS. All the concepts he teaches are in the Shopify docs. And, sometimes it happens to see among videos that the teacher randomly added something without even mentioning it. This course has many prerequisites, in fact expects to speak to people that know how to code, but the teacher delivers the content in a superficial way, like amateurish.

So far very informative to a developer who is completely new to shopify. However, the title says 3.0 but the material has so far been only about 2.0. I think if you're going to update the title to 3.0, you should UPFRONT note how you're covering that new version, and which lessons are now legacy (even if they are still important). It's hard to listen to a whole lesson hearing language like "this is the latest version" when you're clearly speaking about 2.0 and it was obviously recorded before 3.0 was a thing.

The course is good but what I felt is the instructor can go a bit in depth explaining things as there are few topics where you're just doing thing as topics are not explained in detail on how things work. Other than this a lot of student's question were unanswered. With all this negative & positive points (Still good place to start your Shopify Developer journey as there is very less good and free content available online so it is a good investment for your career) Goodluck!!

It's a great course. The instructor is thorough and explains things properly. There is a small part of some actions done that are missing from the videos (nothing too difficult but it messes up with your workflow because you need to understand what happened and what did we miss). The instructor should fix that. The instructor could also be a little more responsive to the Questions of the students although the most crucial questions posed by the past students seem to have been answered already.

Knows what hes doing, but doesn't talk about why alot. Most of the things he says are reading his code as he types it.... so its a good class, but does not really seem interested in teaching much. when i take a class i dont often care about what you do... its more about the why. just typing code for 10 minutes before saying what you're creating or working on is a waste of time.

I gave this course a 5-star wishing I could have given it a 10-star rating! Bernard is hands down one of the best instructors I've ever learned from. The approach and delivery he provides in each video are on point with elementary, beginner-friendly teaching throughout the course. Anyone looking to learn Shopify Theme Development you gotta pick this course up the amount you're spending versus how much you can make in the long run is no comparison! PS: I would highly recommend individuals that who aren't familiar with Tailwind to pause this course and look up a few tutorials in that framework, just to understand the syntax. This course will cover a lot regarding that framework. You don't need to go deep within the syntax, but just enough to know when Bernard is using Tailwind. Also, if you ever get lost don't hesitate to pull up the documentation for the framework. I've been a developer for 5 years now and I constantly have to keep different documentation of languages up because there's a lot. Lastly, enjoy the ride everyone, don't get frustrated this is a skill that 1% of people know, but what makes you different is that you're willing to learn it. So, give yourself grace, and if you don't understand something replay the video or look the syntax up in the documentation and you'll be just fine. :D

The course fulfilled my expectations, it covers everything you need to develop a shopify theme, and of couse it's better if you have the previous knowledge that is mentioned in the requirements for this course. I followed every step to ensure I had everything I need to have a 100% functional and working shop theme on its structure, then I've customized it to achieve my own goals (or to my client requirement). Es un curso muy completo. Ideal para personas que tengan conocimientos previos de html, css y js, pero que no tengan conocimientos de "Liquid". Destinado a conocer más el código que el panel de control. Respecto a Tailwind, me ha resultado muy intuitivo y fácil de utilizar. Ahora toca coger un código de un tema ya creado y poner en práctico todo lo aprendido. Curso muy recomendable para empezar a trabajar con Shopify.

This course may be the most useful course I have ever taken on udemy. It was great that you built the whole theme from scratch and showed the finer details. I was very happy that you explained the lesson in an understandable way, without writing a sloppy code, and I felt that I had taken a premium course. I'm currently planning to create my own shopify theme and after that buy your Shopify app course as soon as possible. By the way, can you do a "Shopify laravel app" course? That would be awesome.
