Lots of techniques discussed, and lots of chances to apply them. Maybe the only thing lacking was a discussion of rhyming schemes, which you can Google to your heart's content outside of this course. Loved all the interviews, and I also discovered a lot of fantastic music along the way that'll influence me.

You can always learn something from every course. Or how not to do things. This course is different from what I have seen before. Fun to hear from other artists. Don't be afraid to text. Looking forward to hearing more!

This course is probably very close to the best course you can get on songwriting. It's got tons of helpful advice on how to start new songs, improve those that you've started, and gave me a lot of new ideas and a different look at some concepts about songwriting that I will surely incorporate in my future process. The course also contains a lot of interviews with other songwriters, but to me personally, many of those weren't as helpful as Jim's theoretical content. Some of them are kind of inspirational and are worth watching, but I couldn't really get much value out of others. This is probably subjective though, and might be totally different for other viewers. Another VERY minor complaint is that parts of the course are a bit outdated in terms of e.g. summaries at the end of chapters, because Jim obviously has shifted the structure of the course around a bit, and has also added additional content over time, which in itself is a very, very positive point. Apart from that, you're getting much more out of this course than the specified hours of video content. There are a bunch of extremely helpful articles, and you also get a lot of exercises that will help you in getting started with songwriting. Overall, I'm very satisfied, and I'd recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn more about this wonderful craft.

WOW! This course is exactly what I needed to help me get over my writer's block and commit to developing my craft as a songwriter. The Facebook group is active, helpful and encouraging and I am blown away that Jim responds directly with great suggestions and encouragement.

By the end of this course you'll have the tools to write your own songs using many different techniques. Jim manages to anticipate the difficulties that a novice like myself will face, and then presents ways in which to approach those difficulties with confidence. The rest is up to me, and it's in that individual responsibility for finding and practicing the songwriting techniques that work best for me, that my own voice could shine.

This is a great course. The flow and content are bang on for all my song writing needs. It takes you through all kinds of tips, hints, exercises, etc and there are some great videos and downloads with input from a range of established artists. brilliant stuff.

I am working through this course but so far the content has been stimulating and immediately useful. Jim has an engaging style and brings the whole subject of songwriting to life, demystifying it and encouraging those tentative first steps in songwriting. A "must have" resource for the aspiring songwriter

This course is a tremendous resource for songwriters. Jim’s knowledge of the craft is extensive and his style of delivery is engaging so he makes learning a real pleasure. I have found the exercises to be relevant, thought provoking, engaging and really helpful. Here’s to my first EP!

Inspirational! I've completed about a third of this course within the last week or so and I've already written two new songs! I'm finding it relaxed and thoughtful, with interesting interviews, tips and exercises. It's making me feel immersed in the world of songwriting and feeding my creativity. I would highly reccommend it.
