Course Description
Using sports as a platform, this course provides beginner and novice level photographers a foundation for shooting dynamic subjects in a variety of settings. The student will learn valuable insights into getting those professional level photos at sporting events, music venues, plays, presentations, re-enactments, and many others.
In order to shoot like a pro, you have to first think like a pro. Knowing what camera settings to use is an absolute necessity, but it is the equivalent of knowing how to use the features of your car. Knowing how to turn on the wipers will not make you a better driver. In a sense, this course assumes you know how to start your vehicle. It is my job to help you become a Formula One driver.
Many forms of photography rely on the photographer to manipulate the subject and environment in which he, or she, is shooting. This course helps you understand what to do when your subject and environment are totally out of your control. You will learn how to anticipate and compose great photos in the most difficult of shooting conditions.
Action photography (Sports, street, weddings, candid, event, and basic photojournalism) is not a spectator sport. If you have a desire to learn how you can take great photos of dynamic subjects in interesting venues, then this course is for you.

I liked the way he explained the concepts in detail from different angles. This course was geared for me, the grandma with a camera and the person who wants a career in sports photography. He spoke slowly and showed examples of his work and didn't use just professional equipment. If he has other courses...I'll be taking them. I'll also be watching this one again to help solidify. Thanks!

I learned some new things about sports photography and how to set up indoor shots. I'm excited to get in and take some pictures to see how I do.

I cannot be happier that I took this course. The lecturer gives plenty of insights, recommendations tips and tricks and talks about his personal experience. The course covers the technical and practical parts. I was already inspired to go on this journey but after the course I am pn fire! Thank you for inspiration and your honest advices dear Don!

Although the course was useful I found that some of the more technical aspects weren't covered like White Balance and focus settings.

The course was great. As soon as it was done I was hoping there were more courses from Don but was sad I couldn’t find any! He explains everything very well and make all concepts understandable. While understanding what settings are needed for sports or moving photography- he also goes beyond this and dives into what it takes and what you need to get the shot as a sports photographer. I’m excited to apply his tips and notes to future work.

I am doing sports photography and would like to get better, not just with this course but to improve every time I get out to photograph sports After course, review, I am really impressed with the tips and tricks he gave away, these are GOLD for me to go out this week and hit Boys Wrestling, Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball all to try and make my photography the best it can be and to practice all the new ways to shoot!

I really enjoyed this course. I got so much out of it and feel much more confident with my abilities after taking this course. It has great information for parents that want to take better pictures at their kids sporting events or photographers looking to improve their sports photos to work for local newspapers or sell to magazines. Don McPeak is a great instructor. He keeps the course interesting even when he's discussing the technical aspects and the lectures are very well paced. I wish he had more courses on Udemy.

Instructor is very engaging. And very knowledgeable. I especially liked that he went into a good bit of detail about the logistics of which shots to get, that there are different shots to be taken depending on who requests the photos, and that he encourages students to get out there and approach whomever to get whatever unique-angle shots you might think of. Overall, great course. I'm really glad I took it and I can't wait to get out and start shooting!

Mr McPeak has an easygoing speaking style and he is good at separating what is really important from technical, but less useful details. He is good at making you really think ahead and realizing that a good photo is ‘made’, not merely ‘taken.’ Hopefully in the balance of lectures, the "Ferris Wheel" as he calls them, will unify these concepts.

If you want to take your action shots to the next level this class was well worth the little money it cost. The instructor takes you to a more cerebral level in approach to sports photography. I used to just take hap hazard pics. Now I know how to tell a better story. For example I would have never thought to get a pic of just the kids bending down to cheer on the edge of the pool as a swimmer went by. Or the shaking of hands at the end of a heat. Or the dejected walk after missing a time.
