Course Description

Master Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) for Sports Massage, Stretching & Mobility

In this Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) course, Michael Eric Everson, Manual Osteopath, Registered Massage Therapist, and Yoga Teacher, teaches practical muscle energy techniques for the entire body and shows you how to incorporate MET into massage therapy, sports massage, therapeutic massage, stretching, and manual therapy.

Muscle Energy Techniques are active techniques that use controlled muscular contractions and positioning to create specific therapeutic effects. When incorporated appropriately into a treatment session, MET can become a valuable tool for massage therapists and manual therapists working with clients who need improved mobility, flexibility, and movement.

This course focuses on practical, hands-on techniques that you can learn, practice, and incorporate into your existing massage therapy skill set.

In This Muscle Energy Techniques Course, You Will Learn:

  • Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) for the Entire Body

  • How to incorporate MET into sports massage

  • Muscle energy techniques for stretching and mobility

  • An effective and intelligent manual therapy treatment system

  • Connective tissue techniques

  • How to work with athletes and incorporate MET into sports massage sessions

  • How to combine different hands-on techniques into a more comprehensive treatment

  • Practical approaches for expanding your massage therapy technique toolbox

Learn Practical Muscle Energy Techniques

Rather than simply explaining the theory behind MET, this course emphasizes hands-on application and practical technique.

You'll learn how to position the body, apply the technique, communicate with your client, and integrate muscle energy techniques into a broader massage therapy treatment.

The techniques are presented in a clear, concise, and practical format so you can spend less time on unnecessary theory and more time learning the hands-on skills you can actually use in practice.

Muscle Energy Techniques for Sports Massage

MET can be particularly useful as part of a broader sports massage and athletic recovery approach.

You'll learn how to incorporate muscle energy techniques alongside other manual therapy techniques when working with athletes, helping you develop a more versatile approach to sports massage.

This course is also valuable if you don't primarily work with athletes. The techniques can expand your options when working with a wide range of massage therapy clients.

Build a More Versatile Massage Therapy Skill Set

A successful manual therapy practice requires more than one technique.

The more tools you have available, the more effectively you can adapt your treatment approach to the individual client, their goals, and their movement needs.

Michael draws on more than a decade of experience in massage therapy, manual therapy, osteopathic techniques, and yoga to present the techniques he considers particularly practical and useful in clinical practice.

These are the kinds of techniques he wishes he had known earlier in his career—distilled into a practical, technique-rich, no-time-wasted course.

Great technique. Good demonstrations. Not great for people who are new to the field or looking to refresh as things are explained very clinically and not broken down further into easier to understand terminology.

These techniques are incredible. I am incorporating as much of them as it's appropriate in my practice. The results are incredible. This material is soooo rich. The generosity and sharing of Michael is truly a gift; a true love of the work and caring for humanity.

I loved all the information to be able to better assist my clients with their issues. Mike Everson has alot to share and I love it. I have been doing many of his classes. And thank you for the PDF updates on all the classes as well. It helps to have that to look up when needed.

The explanations is very clear and easy to understand. But, i think this course is for the experienced therapist or a person that very knowledgeable about anatomy. I'd prefer that Michael using voice over during MET for some part of the body, because there might beginner therapist who couldn't follow his explanation. Overall, it is a good course

Really great techniques. I'm a massage therapist who has been in the business for over ten years. Sometimes there is one client that isn't responsive to the classic manipulations of the soft tissue and you can feel they are very tight and in a lot of pain. I've found that by introducing some of these techniques, after briefly explaining what I was going to do, the muscles relaxed notoriously and the range of motion as well, and it was much easier to work in the fibers of the muscles after that. And makes the work so much easy for us and fun

These courses have been a game changer for me in my field of functional fitness. I am not a LMT but my clients do suffer from chronic pain or trigger points. The knowledge gained from these courses has put me in a whole different lane and makes my job a lot easier. Thank you for these amazing courses and for sharing your knowledge!!

By Stephanie Holloway on 10/24/2022

I found the course very informative & helpful. During the course, both myself & my partner and had different injuries in muscles that needed something outside of just pain medication. Both of us actually enjoy using massages to help relieve injuries incurred by sports, work, or just life in general. We were able to apply some of the MET to our injuries and practice them in a safe environment .

I really enjoyed your course and I'm excited to introduce these techniques into my massage with my clients. We still have to wear masks where I work and it's hindered on my ability to do my TMJ work but with the techniques in this course for TMJ I can do the work with there mask on so thank you for all the great new techniques. I also appreciate how thorough you are and that you teach in a very calming manner and I'm glad I ordered a few of your classes so far.

GREAT course. This is the 2nd one I’ve taken with you and loved it. Concise, great information, great pacing, thorough, good camera angles, great hands on technique and explanations. Already been utilizing this is my client sessions with great success. I look forward to more courses from you!

By Febie Ann Laoyan on 11/21/2021

Explanations are detailed and like its easier to be understood by people with no massage background. As a student of Massage Therapy, I find this course helpful and adds knowledge to what I'm still learning. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
