Course Description
Master Positional Release Techniques for Sports Massage & Therapeutic Massage
In this Positional Release Techniques course, Michael Eric Everson, Manual Osteopath, Registered Massage Therapist, and Yoga Teacher, teaches a practical form of manual therapy that uses precise body positioning to work with areas of muscle tension, tenderness, and discomfort.
Positional Release Therapy (PRT) is a valuable addition to massage therapy and sports massage because it gives practitioners another way to approach sensitive areas before applying more direct hands-on techniques.
You'll learn how to use positioning, palpation, and therapeutic contact to incorporate Positional Release Techniques into your massage therapy treatments.
In This Positional Release Course, You Will Learn:
Positional Release Techniques for the entire body
Advanced manual therapy techniques
How to identify and work with tender points and trigger points
How to use body positioning to reduce muscular tension
How to incorporate positional release into sports massage
How to combine Positional Release with other massage therapy techniques
Practical techniques for working with sensitive or restricted areas
How to develop a more versatile manual therapy technique toolbox
What Is Positional Release Therapy?
Positional Release Therapy is a hands-on manual therapy approach that uses specific positioning of the body and tissues to create a more comfortable therapeutic experience.
Rather than immediately applying deep pressure or aggressive manipulation to a sensitive area, positional release allows you to explore a different approach.
You'll learn how to position the client, locate relevant tender or trigger points, apply appropriate contact, and integrate the technique into a broader massage therapy session.
Learn Practical Positional Release Techniques
This course focuses on hands-on application, not just theory.
Michael breaks down the techniques step by step so you can understand how to apply positional release in a practical treatment setting.
You'll learn how to use Positional Release Techniques as part of your existing approach to sports massage, therapeutic massage, and manual therapy.
The techniques can be particularly useful when you encounter areas that are sensitive to direct pressure or when you want another option for addressing muscle tension and tenderness.
Positional Release for Sports Massage
Positional Release Techniques can complement a variety of sports massage and therapeutic massage techniques.
You'll learn how to incorporate positional release into a broader treatment strategy and how it can fit alongside other hands-on approaches.
This makes the course useful for practitioners who work with athletes as well as massage therapists who primarily work with general clients.
Work With Tender Points & Trigger Points
A significant component of this course is learning how to approach tender points and trigger points using positional techniques.
You'll develop practical skills for locating these areas and applying positioning-based techniques rather than relying exclusively on direct pressure.
The goal is to give you another option to add to your massage therapy and manual therapy toolbox.

The information was very well explained and presented in a clear and easy-to-understand way. I now feel much more confident in my ability to identify and effectively treat these areas using the knowledge and techniques covered.

I found some of the anatomical terms difficult but the explanation of what the muscles connected to or were a part of, symptoms and typical injuries that may occur was very helpful. The demonstrations were clear and precise. Well done.

Getting detailed in your work is very important as a massage therapist. I like the positional release technique as it is shortening the muscle letting the nervous system to get out of the flight/fight response.

This was great, I work on high performing athletes. Specifically in the bodybuilding world. Not only do they often have trigger and tender points but their muscle mass posses a new challenge especially in treating deep tissue. Some of these point are really hard to reach and would love to hear any advice for treating bodybuilding clients more effectively. Especially during the bulking phase when my clients retain lots of water.

5 Star review from me as I always enjoy Michael Everson's courses on here. It's a perfect base of information if you have general knowledge on the body and how muscles, nerves and joints work. I know a few folks were complaining that it wasn't enough information or detailed enough. If you want to learn everything under the sun dealing with this course, then you should be paying top dollar and taking a course through school HANDS ON. He's giving us a detailed summary covering that majority of pain points that patients / clients come in with all packed into 2 hours for $14.99. You honestly can't beat that.

I'm a Personal Trainer and Trigger Point Therapist, and this course was a good match for me. It confirmed things that I already know, as well as gave me new knowledge and tips about how to move on with my work.

I really enjoyed this course, I picked up a lot of techniques that will be very beneficial to my clients. I see myself using this as a reference often. I would like to see techniques for the psoas muscle included.
By Jennifer Ganser on 7/27/2022
I enjoyed the course. I felt that it was very detailed and I liked how he gave techniques for specific muscles. I would make two recommendations: first show a picture of the muscle you are working on, because some people are visual learners. Secondly, it would be nice to have each technique written out in the notes. It was hard for me to remember internal/external rotation, degrees, when pillows were needed etc. I have to go back to re watch each segment and write each technique out now so I have a cheat sheet to practice from until I memorize it. Otherwise, very informative and good information.

I find this course very helpful, because I am doing Swedish Massage and I am a Therapeutic Reflexologist. I come across these problems quite often. The Lecturer is very calm and explain and demonstrate very understandable.
By John Taglieri on 12/22/2021
Great course. Solid information. My only complaint is that many of the videos seemed to cut off mid sentence or when there should/could have been a better end transition to the information. Otherwise, I'm happy with the course. I'll definitely be reviewing it a few more times to get it all under my hands.
