Course Description
Imagine how much more successful you could be growing your startup if you could learn from the successes and mistakes of hundreds of entrepreneurs who came before you - that is what this course will do for you
While I was at eBay I spent over $1B investing in and buying startups, so I evaluated hundreds of startups and saw what they did well and the most common pitfalls. I've been coaching entrepreneurs the past few years since I left eBay using what I've learned to help them become more successful, and now this knowledge is available to you in this course.
You will learn how to take your startup to the next level by avoiding the most common mistakes entrepreneurs make:
- How to avoid the endless hole of direct marketing spending and still acquire loads of valuable customers
- Why so many startups fail because they have dreams that are too broad and too big
- How much it pays to focus your startup in areas where you or your team have deep expertise and skills - just picking an area you are passionate about or is a big opportunity is a huge risk if you don't have relevant experience
- Not all customers are created equal - if you treat them all the same you will lose your best customers
Teaching method:
To illustrate the principles of this course, we’ll look at different mistakes entrepreneurs made and how other entrepreneurs employed the strategies in this course to overtake them. These are all going to be pragmatic case studies, taught in the same way top business schools teach and how top management consulting firms like Bain train their employees. I’m not going to teach you any theory, nothing academic, this is a practical course. I am going to teach you the same materials that I use to coach dozens of entrepreneurs like you each year.
INSTRUCTOR DIRECT SUPPORT: Ask any question and get answer right away within 24 hours or less depending on time zone - we do sleep you know ;) We are actively committed to supporting our students every step of the way.

Ian Bednowitz
Ian Bednowitz established and led the Mergers & Acquisitions team for eBay's largest business unit for five years. During that time, he and his team invested over $1B in capital in dozens of startups across the world after evaluating and meeting with hundreds of entrepreneurs. He has a deep understanding of entrepreneurs and the challenges they face, as he not only invested money in their companies, but he would also coach them on challenges ranging from growing their business, raising funds and staying healthy while living an incredibly busy lifestyle.
Prior to his role at eBay, Ian worked for over seven years at Bain & Company, a leading strategy consulting firm, where he helped work on strategy, marketing and operational issues in a broad range of Fortune 500 technology, financial services and consumer products companies. Bain sponsored Ian to attend the Kellogg School of Management, where he earned his MBA, focusing on strategy and entrepreneurship. Ian graduated with B.A. in Economics from Cornell University.
Ian realized one of his greatest passions at eBay was working with and coaching the entrepreneurs. As a result, in 2015 he stepped away from his role at eBay to focus exclusively on coaching entrepreneurs both one-on-one and through his Udemy courses which reach thousands of students worldwide.

Brainstorm a list of organizations you can target – work with a partner or team from your company if you can – brainstorm at least three for each category: Companies to piggyback on Marketplaces to use Colleges and universities to target Blogs or podcasts Meetup groups / employees / sports teams Now prioritize them based on how relevant they are to your target niche, how easy to reach they

When I bought this course I was expecting to have answers to my questions. To have step-by-step help to know more than what I have to do for my Business. Now I'm again at point 0, with more questions than before. This would be coaching. Would be a method to sell something else? I don't know, but this will not help you start up your business!

This course is good as a starting point for understanding basic concepts of your business and various ways to obtain a customer base. Would have been good to have a few examples in the tech space such as SaaS. Also, clarifying B2B vs B2C and customer segmentation would have been a good addition.

This course is excellent. It offers plenty of real-world examples (case method) in order to build concepts instead of just providing "cake recipes" of success. The instructor presents with excitement and encourages the students to think about how everything applies to their business. Congratulations to the instructor. I totally recommend it.

Another awesome course! Content is very practical and delivered with specific real-world examples to help solidify the recommended growth strategies. Applying these simple yet important lessons will prove to be invaluable, no matter the current size or potential of your business. Ian demonstrates the pitfalls and waste that even extremely large and well-resourced companies have fallen prey too, and how we can avoid them in seeking fast growth. I particularly liked the advice and emphasis on stakeholder experience and how these growth strategies can apply to all businesses, not just in tech. The summarizing exercises to help keep you on track and apply the lessons to your own business were a great touch. Cheers Ian!

This is a superior course taught by an instructor with experience with some of the tech industry's largest companies. In other words, he knows his stuff! Please, please, please absorb and fully understand everything he teaches regarding niche markets. What he teaches is absolutely brilliant and will seriously reduce your odds of failure.

I found the Information in this course to be very helpful. The examples and principles provided by Ian from larger well-known companies were useful, and I’ve already identified how I can apply many of these and how they will benefit my business. This course provided me the increased confidence by better understanding the areas where I am doing well and heading in the right direction, and to focus more on these areas. It also helped me realise the areas where I’m not getting a great return on my time/investment for several reasons, and reconsider this area of my business. I took allot of notes and am motivated to start implementing this new knowledge. It’s one of those courses with so much great information that you will just want to come back and watch it again a few more times

This course was EXACTLY what I needed. The lessons around finding a Niche and building outwards have been huge for my business and I can see them cutting off years of my startup's journey. I really think anyone who wants some guidance in the incredibly fraught business of starting a business - this is the course for you. 5/5 stars!
