Course Description
Building real apps is always the most efficient way to quickly learn new software engineering concepts. In this course you will learn how to use SwiftUI for more than just playing with small prototypes.
You will be building a functional Netflix clone that has most of the features of the real app. The focus of this course is learning & perfecting SwiftUI concepts. We will be building all of the visual UI components from the Netflix app. We won’t handle networking and we’ll be loading our data locally to show up within the UI. The app is built with MVVM and you'll be able to easily integrate your own networking layer.
Some parts of the course require iOS 14 and Xcode 12.
Many lessons can be followed using Xcode 11 and the important concepts learned will still apply to iOS 13. But some views & functionality are only available in iOS 14 using Xcode 12. For example, the ‘Grid’ view is only availably in iOS 14+. For iOS 13, you would have to build your own implementation using a combination of VStacks & HStack.
What is SwiftUI 2?
Apple has provided this new framework as a way to quickly build beautiful user interfaces for any Apple device using just one set of easy-to-use tools. With the new declarative syntax of SwiftUI, it takes less code to keep your code and design perfectly in sync.
SwiftUI works seamlessly with new Xcode design tools and significantly speeds up development by showing your code changes in real time!
After the latest features for iOS 14 announced at WWDC 2020, SwiftUI 2 is even more robust! New views, new functionality, less bugs, and faster performance with Swift 5.
No excuses to skip out on SwiftUI now.

This course is in no way affiliated with Netflix, Inc. No source code of the real Netflix application is ever shown. This code is my interpretation of how I would build the app using SwiftUI.

Hi! I'm Nikita and I'm an iOS Engineer currently working in a large (15k+ employees) tech startup in San Francisco, California.
I have been fascinated with Swift every since Apple announced their new language in 2014. I have been learning through tons of online resources and have been using it every day at work ever since.
I love brining unique experiences to users through beautiful iOS applications.

I'm a beginner and this course was a great. I was expecting to complete the whole functions. Instructor was great, he explained everything as you go along. Looking forward to see the continuation to completion of this course.

Overall I enjoyed this course and learned a lot from it as I was coding along. I like that it's comprehensive and covers many different topics, especially working with state variables and bindings, which up till now confused the hell out of me. Nikita explains the concepts very well and it's easy to follow his thought process. After completing this course I feel comfortable to start my own side project in SwiftUI. Possible points of improvement: 1. The course goes a little bit too fast and sometimes I was not able to keep up with the typing, so I had to stop the video many times. Slightly slower pace is also okay! 2. It would have been a lot more convenient to be able to download pre-made GlobalHelpers, Assets and a few other resources in a single zip file at the start of the lesson we need it for. I did copy the Assets and the GenerateMovies class from the full source code you shared in Resources, but I did end up typing out the entire GlobalHelpers.

Good pace, and lots of great examples of how to create a variety of interfaces in SwiftUI, using the Netflix App as an interface guideline. Also good use of creating "dummy data" to drive the app. Only reason I didn't give 5 star is I mis-read the description, and THOUGHT we would actually be building a "working" Netflix clone. My error. Lastly, I'd like to see an up to date solution with Xcode 12.5 and IOS 14 posted that works! I can't get full functionality, and last posted solution doesn't work. Thanks.

Thought it was great. Got to the very end and the drag gestures part doesn't work and causes a crash at the final hurdle which is fairly excruciating. Teacher has a good style, a good pace and is generally fairly clean in coding terms so it really just needs a final bit of revision and spit and polish and it's a 5 star affair. Would I buy another course from Nikita? I already have. However, that final bug is absolutely gut wrenching after a fair slog.

One of the best ways to learn is to replicate something you're familiar with, and this Netflix clone course does just that. Amazing content - basics like MVVM architecture, state management, and some cool tip/tricks thrown in. You'll not just learn SwiftUI, but how to structure and engineer an app. Nikita does a great job explaining why he's coding a certain way and walking you through how each section functions. This is at the top of my list of recommended courses! Only thing that would have made it better was hooking up to real API and handling networking requests, but the groundwork is there to handle it.

What a wonderful class! I've just completed it and feel completely satisfied. I've learned so many nice features while coding along the videos. Tips & Tricks that I will definitely use elsewhere. This instructor is very knowledgeable, explains the reasoning behind specific instructions and makes it easy to understand why things are done the way they are done. I wish there would be more classes like this one! I highly recommended this instructor.

Pros: - Instructor provides great explanations during coding and when fixing bugs - The course progression is good. You start building the simplest views and gradually moving towards the more complex views - Instructor responds to questions and comments in a timely manner Cons: - The course covers the basics of SwiftUI. Do not expect fancy animations, networking, core data etc. - The original Netflix app features cool animations that are skipped in this course. Sadly for me, this is what I really wanted to learn - If you are a beginner to SwiftUI, the instructor doesn't really go into details with regards to SwiftUI property wrappers and how/when you should use them. I suggest having Hacking With Swift open where you can read all about that stuff - There are few parts in the course where content gets edited (the instructor decides to change the code) but he never explained why the section was edited out or provide notes regarding those edits. overall I enjoyed the course but I am a bit disappointed because I expected to learn more about SwiftUI animations (and other cool stuff you can do with it) rather than how to lay out views which is the majority of what you will learn in this course. I would say this course is a good starting point but doesn't cover SwiftUI is depth.

This is must-have, better to say must-to-learn course! This author is top professional. Highly recommended for those, who learned Swift already. Not for beginners and that's why is most useful for me. This is not only how-to code, this is why we do so and so. This course is more about how to make nice and dry code.

I'd like to share my thoughts on the content of this amazing SwiftUI course. I have been a (self-employed) iOS developer for a few years now, and I started programming with SwiftUI after the announcement of version 2.0 at WWDC 2020. A lot of UIKit code feels very different and bloated compared to what SwiftUI has to offer. In this course, I learned a lot about binding objects (no more protocols), laying out stacks effectively, as well as using MVVM to remove the logic from the view itself. I know that this course offers as much as possible (or doable), since the official Netflix app has a huge backend to support all of its functionalities and make it look very flashy. Thank you so much for this course. Really liked how you explained your code and what it does or might do. Something I would like to learn is the addition of flashing cells (glimmer effect) while the data is being retrieved from the server.
