The Complete Apache Groovy Developer Course (Udemy.com)

I have worked in groovy on and off for the past couple of years, learning from what other co-workers did. So I only understood what others did. After taking this course, I understand so much more about the groovy language and the defined classes and methods that really make programming in groovy easier. And the section on runtime metaprogramming blew my mind, that was powerful.

Probably the most comprehensive groovy tutorial here but felt really disorganized. Seemed indecisive as how if it wanted to be meant for new programmers or programmers not familiar with Java. It's fine for those with Java experience but wouldn't recommend for others starting out in programming or without some Java background.

The course and teaching are pretty good. I'm more than halfway through the course and so far i like the content. However, if you want any questions answered, forget it. At the beginning of the course the tutor gives us a link to his Discord channel and says he'd rather answer questions there, as opposed answering in Udemy's questions and answers section. So I signed up to his channel on discord but notice so many unanswered questions there. I still posted my question there and 2 and a half weeks later, no answer. I then posted a question in the udemy q & a section, again two weeks later, no response. So for this reason I'm giving 1 star, as the q & a section is an essential and integral feature of the Udemy business model.

I liked the content and the way the Dan presented the material. I thought he went in to a good amount of detail without muddying the waters. My only slight complaint would be that for beginners like myself, it would nice to hear reminders of what each part of the code is and what it does as the instructor is typing examples. I think that would help to re enforce the prior lessons.

If you're interested in Groovy, this course is a nice way to get familiar with it and to see a lot of its cool capabilities in action.

It's great! I'm a complete Groovy beginning and don't use Java, so this class is exactly what I'm looking for.
