Our take
Based on the ratings of 879 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in April 2023. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a bundle of eight video sections covering six Office 2013 programs: Excel (beginner and advanced), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access (beginner and advanced) and Publisher. It runs about 74 hours across 446 lectures, with 8 quizzes, and roughly 7,200 students have enrolled. The syllabus is built around the 2013 interface, so it suits people who actually have that version installed. Publisher gets only seven lectures and 30 minutes, so treat it as a taster, not a full section.
Reviewers like the teaching. Simon Sez IT gets praise for a steady pace, clear explanations and a voice that is easy to follow, and one non-native English speaker found the speed good. One reviewer says it taught the correct vocabulary for the programs, and another already applies it to job tasks. Complaints are mild. One reviewer wanted a more practical course with exercises, another wished tricky English words were explained, and the syllabus lists no assignments. Of 879 ratings, 408 are five stars and only 40 are one or two stars.
The bigger worry is age. The last update was April 2023, and Office 2013 is well behind current releases, so menus and features in newer versions will look different. For someone stuck on 2013 who wants to learn several programs in one go, the value is strong. Anyone on a current version should look for a newer course. Plan on a slow, steady watch rather than a quick skim.
Pros
- Six Office programs in one purchase, with Excel and Access each split into beginner and advanced
- Reviewers describe a calm pace and clear, simple explanations that beginners can follow
- One reviewer says they applied what they learned to real job tasks
- Course transcripts were added in the June 2017 update
Cons
- Built on Office 2013 and last updated April 2023, so newer menus and features are missing
- Publisher gets only seven lectures and 30 minutes, far thinner than the other sections
- No assignments, and one reviewer wanted a more practical, exercise-based course
I can understand what instructor is saying, I like how his approach for explaining the material. Simple and sweet.
Listed for all levels, but it really suits beginners and upgraders who already have Office 2013 installed.

Helpful, I stop it a lot to take notes. I am not familiar with what it means to put a file on "C" I have no experience in saving, or what files or documents are
By Jaymie Pennington on 6/16/2020
Great course. I just think a more practical course should also be avaliable.
