Course Description

Here's the truth: the vast majority of instructors on Udemy aren't having the impact they desired. But many instructors are successfully making a lucrative, full-time career from producing online courses on the Udemy platform. You can learn the strategies that will set you apart as an instructor, and position you for that kind of success.

Frank Kane has been producing online courses on Udemy since 2015, and has sold over 1.2 million paid course enrollments earning over 3.5 million dollars. In this course, Frank shares all the stuff he's learned the hard way during that time about what works with course creation, and what doesn't. You'll learn:

  • How to choose the course topic that's best for you, and most likely to succeed

  • Audio/visual tips for producing clear audio and crisp video for different budget levels

  • SEO tips to make sure students find your course when they're looking for your topic

  • How "flywheel effects" should inform your course marketing and course creation strategy

  • How to construct a pre-launch checklist to make your course launch as strong as possible

  • Effective course marketing strategies - as well as strategies to avoid

  • Maintaining your course to keep it selling for years

  • How to vet other platforms that want to host your content

  • Techniques for discouraging piracy of your course

  • How to get more reviews for your courses

  • A plan for making Udemy your full-time job, in a responsible manner

This course is intended as a supplement to Udemy's Teach Hub and resources in your course creation dashboard - it's all the stuff most instructors only learn through experience.  Avoid common mistakes in your strategy as an online instructor, and apply proven best practices used by Udemy's top instructors right from the start.

Any instructor on the Udemy platform who wants to make more of an impact will benefit from this course. It's packed with tips, tricks, and lessons learned that can make the difference between a course that flops, and a course that changes the world.

I love the insights about Udemy, how to make the most of tools like market insights. Some of the recording advice is outdated as many new tools exist, plus AI generated talking head videos.

By Michael Harvey on 11/3/2025

Clear, effective and I appreciate the clarity and honesty about the financial side of things.

"I'm delighted to share my review of the course and the instructor who impressed me with his captivating voice and sincere approach throughout the course. Thank you, Frank! However, there were moments of frustration due to intermittent audio issues which I understand are beyond your control. You might consider reaching out to Udemy to address these technical glitches, especially on 21-27, 35, and 39. It can be quite exasperating for students to be constantly redirected to the platform when such issues occur. Apart from this minor setback, the overall experience was exceptional, and I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to create an online course."

The content was pretty engaging. The pace of the course was just right. I am happy that Kane provided all the necessary tips that one would need to be an online teacher /trainer. My small suggestion would be to include a comparison with Thinkific.com and Teachable.com as well. Thank you.

The course clarified all my questions around creating courses on Udemy. It cleared away many misconceptions about Udemy I had. It also pointed to some aspects that I have never thought of. Now I am more fit to make a decision whether to start a my own course(s) and how, what that actually means in long run.

Loved this course! Frank shares his experiences / insights gained working in the trenches creating best seller Udemy courses on Machine Learning and Data Science. He's also one of the few Instructors on Udemy who have crossed the million dollar mark in revenue and growing. I learned many helpful tips for my upcoming courses and would recommend this course to aspiring / existing instructors alike.

Course was to the point. I was going to skim through a second time to write down important points to remember, but in bonus lecture I learned that I can do so faster by buying course content as a kindle book. So I will go for that option. I have bought several courses earlier on «course production». I am glad that I ended up also buying this one. Five stars, easily.

Very Cool! I think this is a must have buy if you want to create a course for Udemy. He talks on topics you'll never think of on your own. So why reinvent the wheel, just buy the course. He's the best, relaxing to watch, very complete. And he's made over 1.3 million profit from his courses in three years, three years! So he must know what he's talking about! FYI, I have been training people since 1979, 8 years teaching music in my own music studio, and about fifteen years teaching college computer courses part-time, including C/C++, Java, Unix/Linux, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Office, Php, etc. Buy the course, you'll be glad you did! Thank you Frank for spending the time to make the course!

I am an experienced Udemy instructor. I have been teaching on Udemy for almost three years, yet I still decided to take this course because Frank is an instructor that I have always looked up to and I know I can learn a lot from him. I have completed the entire course and have learnt many things that I didn't previously know. I believe that I have gained a lot of value from this course. If you are a new Udemy instructor, this course is a must-have. If you're an experienced instructor as I am, I still recommend it as you will learn many hacks and tips to creating top quality online courses.

Frank Kane has been my Udemy model for quite a long time, and I'm super happy he made this course. He opens up on his 3 years experience as one of the most successful teacher on the platform and gives tips and lessons learned that are worth hearing, even as a long time instructor. There are also a lot of "reality checks" which tells you Udemy is full of hard work to reach success, and that you will have a tremendous amount of challenges along the way. In the end, it's all worth it, and this course will save you lots of time when starting to scale your Udemy business! Thanks Frank for this great course :)
