I’ve spent the last 15+ years building, operating and teaching modern infrastructure—and more than 300,000 students have learned with me along the way.
I’m Gourav Shah, a DevOps, Cloud, AI and Platform Engineering educator with 15,000+ hours of professional training experience and more than a decade of working with engineering teams around the world.
My journey started as an Operations Engineer, where I spent my days working with Linux, infrastructure, automation and production systems. I later joined Adobe as an IT Operations Manager, before taking the entrepreneurial path and founding School of DevOps, where my focus shifted from operating systems to helping other engineers master them.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to train engineers and technology teams at organizations including Adobe, Cisco, IBM, Oracle, Ericsson, NetApp, Walmart Labs, Visa, Wells Fargo and ANZ, among many others.
I’m also the author of Ansible Playbook Essentials, published by Packt, and have created six official courses for The Linux Foundation. Through my online courses, I’ve taught technology to 300,000+ learners worldwide.
But credentials are only part of the story.

The course content is helpful, however the closed captions seem to have several errors and mismatches. It would be great if they could be reviewed and corrected for better clarity and accessibility.

Instructor has really good knowledge of what he is doing. I would have more liked it if it was step bu step guide. or explained a little more. This course is not for the begineers

I really didn't like to course, the explanations around jenkins and maven was not clear and the fact that you focus on only one technology to do the deploy did not help at all. And the files used from git only make worst because they don't help to understand the concepts. In addition to all of that it the accent does not help, even the tool to display the subtitles didn't get it.

I would totally recommend this course to a beginner who needs to know DevOps ideology along with its essential tools all at once from basics .Since all other courses concentrate on a single tool. Here this course covers all the necessary tools for beginners.I should also specify tutor's effort on explanation part along with his care he taken for exercises lab which he designed for us.Totally worth it. He have covered what he can cover for beginners and not only that he made us to build a whole set up out of it. Thank You Gourav for your great effort and for your knowledge.

This is an average course. It's not great like other courses on Udemy. The instructor has good knowledge but he is not able to deliver it or rather I feel this course is not for absolute beginners. Ansible section was worst, didn't understand anything. The reason being the complex pre-coded example that the instructor always chooses to make his work easy but made things very complicated for us as the code is not updated and has a large number of errors when we try to run it. I would suggest him to rather take a small example that he can code in front of us and explain it to make things relatable and interactive. Git, Docker, Jenkins are taught well, you will understand the basics and how they work. Kubernetes and Prometheus are covered at a very basic level which is just enough. Istio is again not for beginners, I didn't understand much. Go for this course if you have the time to solve the errors in the code, Google search might help but you also need to be good with Linux commands.

Generally the coarse is very good. I learned ton of useful skills and there is a good overview of DevOps in the beginning. However, I would have liked two things. 1) The section on Istio, which I was very interested in was not to helpful. If was as if this was tacked onto the end of the coarse from another set of videos. That section needs an introduction that a) explains what Istio is and b) when would I use it. 2) I would have liked to have a final section that ties everything we've learned, and it was a lot, back to the concept of DevOps.

The course gives a very detailed and clear understanding of all the DevOps tool post which you can dive deep into specific areas having a strong basic understanding from this course. Parts of the course, however, needs to be updated, particlularly the Istio which is now on 1.5 version. It was very difficult to follow along with the video lecture as it says about Istio 1.0.

The instructor really knows his technologies and does a good job of illustrating how things work through lectures and hands-on labs. This is a good primer for anyone who wants to get into DevOps or anyone who is in DevOps and wants to learn more about a specific technology. Great job!

Very informative and the presentation slide are well thought-out to help the student understand the material easier. The instructor speaks clearly with a very slight accent but easy to understand. There are some typos in his documentation and the screen transitions are off-timing in some slide but very minor. The content is exactly what I wanted to learn. The instructor's use of the "whiteboard" really helps to help understand the material.

Overall, great foundation course for various tools used for devops. Kind of disappointed that the description specifically mentioned AWS, but the relevant lectures actually used GCP...Prospective students should not have to look through the actual listing of lectures to make sure the content actually matches the description.
