Thank you for the course - I get a lot from it and it completely fulfilled my goals that I set when started to search for UML overview course! I needed a course with a relatively quick overview of UML capabilities, to get an understanding which parts of it I may need for my current pet project. The course did a great job - it provides relatively quick overview and at the same time content isn't too cursory. It wasn't that easy to understand the content at that speed - it could be a little slower. A paused a video an processed heard information quite often. It's also that I'm not a native speaker, so it's a little hard for me to understand speech in british accent.

The course did a decent job of going over the different diagrams and elements within UML. Overall I thought that it had way more detail on how to create the diagrams and was pretty sparse on what the logical reasoning was behind using one diagram over another. I had a few issues with the overarching "project" that the course uses throughout: 1. There wasn't much time spent on why each diagram should be made. You can follow along with the videos (particularly if you use Enterprise Architect) but the reason why is not always clear 2. Expanding on the above, the exercises didn't feel like problem-solving so much as direction-following 3. I think it would be more effective if the "project" was better defined at the start, and had a clearer goal. That way I could have had a better idea of where the project was headed at any time. The way the course jumps around between components seems random, and the final result does not feel complete

I've found this course very informative and learnt a lot. It is comprehensive and goes into a lot of detail across all the lectures. The lecturer knows his subject well and explains things in a clear way, keeping each lecture to a reasonable amount of content so I didn't feel overloaded by information. Very worthwhile.

Exercises are mostly wrote repetition of what is taught in the videos. Questions that challenge knowledge or encourage application to a system other than the example home automation system would be better. Video content could use a better separation between ML and actual activities. Enterprise Architect portions are out of date by roughly 5 years (EA 12 vs current EA 15). Lastly, the subject matter is somewhat dry, especially because it's modeling something so practical. Some may disagree, but I think having a more "fun" fake system to model would make it easier to learn.

Apparently, there were supposed to be exercises associated with the course, but I didn't see any. This made the course a bit confusing as the Home Automation example used in most of the lectures would often contain elements that apparently were supposed to have been added in those non-existent exercises. It was pretty easy to add the new elements in, though, so that wasn't a great problem. Otherwise, the course was very comprehensive and a good introduction, but it'll take a lot more practice to really become proficient.

The course gives a quick overview of the most common features of UML which was exactly what I was looking for. I like the short duration of every lession which otherwise would be a bit overwhelming. Every lesson is split into two parts. You start of whith the video part of Simon explaining the topic and showing how it's done and than it's your turn to model accordingly to the exercises provided in the pdfs. It took me a bit to understand that Simon won't tell you in the videos that you will have to take the next exercise so I watched the first couple of videos without doing any of them and had to go back to them when I finally realised that each video has it's own exercise in the big zip file. Besides that I really like the pace of the videos in the beginning but they tend to get faster the closer you get to the end of the course (at least that how it felt for me). Same goes for the exercises. The first ones are vey clear and differ a bit from the things Simon did in the video so you have to involve yourself a bit more while completing the tasks. But as you get closer to the end of the course the exercises happen to be quite the same as everything in the video so you are just repeating it without any need to think about what you are doing. In some of the later exercises the description of the tasks even misses some words or skips steps which you have to figgure out yourself. This could be on purpose but it's more likely that these words are missing by mistake. An other thing to mention is that the current version of Enterprise Architect differs quite heavily from the one used in the videos. This means that not only the layout and appearence is very different but more importantly menu items and settings are in different places or are missing completly. For example I tried to figgure out how to show the structure compartment of some classes and the tickbox for showing it just is missing. When looking up the issue in the documentation for EA I found out that this issue hadn't been updated. The documentation shows the same way of doing it like Simon shows it in the video which clearly isn't working if the menu item is missing. Stuff like that is the main hassle during the course but to be fair this is the only case where I couldn't find a solution and it doesn't really bother me because everything still works fine and I was able to complete the lesson anyways. So if you are looking for a great overview of UML with lots of advice from an experienced teacher you have found the right course for you! Thank you very much Simon for this amazing and comprehensive course!

The instructor was very clear and concise when explaining the fundamentals of UML. The explanations were also very good and I was able to follow along using Enterprise Architect, however there were times where I had to pause and rewind because he completed an explanation too quickly. I believe I have a good foundation of knowledge for the UML fundamentals thanks to this course. It is, of course, a lot to take in all in one go, but I know I can easily refer back to a specific video and it's accompanying exercise when I need help with a particular diagram in the future. I'll also mention that I had some prior knowledge of Enterprise Architect before I started this course but I can see how even a complete beginner could easily follow it.

This is a well delivered course, the instructor is clear and the material, both the videos and PDF exercises are of excellent quality. Personally I am finding the pace of delivery in the videos themselves a little too fast, as I am trying to follow along with the actions in the Enterprise Architect application, however you can pause/replay the video as needed. The only little niggle is I have is that the instructor doesn't cue you in the video to go do the associtated excercises, and while the exercises are sorted into chapters I sometimes had to open them all up inorder to work out which exercise is assocated with which video. On the whole I would recommend this course for anyone who needs a grounding in UML.

Covers basics of UML and modelling in Enterprise Architect very well. Focus lies on doing practical stuff in EA which is the best way to learn both. Exercise material is very concise and precise. Documentation (in the work files) is very accurate. The instructors speaks very clearly. The pace in which the training is given is a bit high (Udemy should have a 30-sec rewind button :-) and it is not easy to stay synced during the practical parts of the video (I split my screen in a Udemy part and EA part - actually mimicking what the instructor showed). If you want to take the OCUP2 - Foundation exam then this course gives you a good kick-start but you really need to dive into some additional details (as also clearly said in the one but last video). Overall: well structured, high-quality course that sometimes goes a bit to fast.

This is a great course on UML by Simon Bennett. Each and every UML diagram is described vividly with when and where to use to same. He has chosen an excellent tool Enterprise architect to explain the UML. This is truly a top rated course on Udemy. Simon helped me to clarify my doubts on my real time project. He provided a whole lot of suggestion to improve my project modelling. Thus, it helped my project to develop highly reusable and structured code.
