Course Description
In this course, you will learn how to use the Unreal Widget Blueprint system to create UI (User Interface) for your games and applications. These are the same user interfaces that you see in popular games such as Fortnite, Madden NFL, Grand Theft Auto, and Final Fantasy! These menus also mimic the menus that I use to create visualization applications at a Fortune 500 company, and are proven techniques! It is vitally important for any Unreal developer to understand the concepts of widget blueprints. By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and expertise to be able to create menus, on screen HUD's, and many other kinds of menus that you can use in your own games and applications! You will also have developed a fully functional Survival Game!
This course is a great starting point for users who are unfamiliar with the Unreal Widget Blueprint system. It is targeted at Unreal Engine users who have a basic understanding of Unreal 5. We will not be going over how to download and install the Engine or general navigation of the Editor. However, you will master how to design, program and debug widgets within the Widget Blueprint Editor! NO PROGRAMMING KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED!

A lot of useful information so I'm glad I have the videos for later reference, but there's not enough context for the material at the beginning. It's hard to pay attention when going through all the different widget types and ways to manipulate them without a big picture or goal being worked towards to apply the information to as we go. A big pain point is that the max you can view the course in is 720p. Makes full screen a must, and even then, you need to squint to look at what's on his screen, which is irritating.

Well , I have just finished the training. so far so good. I want to point some of topics and I hope instructor got as positive feedback. I normally not write negative feedback because I have respect to effort to do training I know how difficult to do that. This training is good , a ton of knowledge but I think the way of structure of lessons have problem. The problem is you dont see result almost at the end of training and you do not know if you are on a correct path (or if you do any mistakes) its kind of blind roadway because instructor prepare all widgets first of all then make all of them to functional. If I would be I would make it step by step , as an example, Settings page is the biggest issue for me because ton of stuff i made but i dont know if they are working or not at the end of the day and yes it didnt work some of buttons and i dont know how to fix it because prepare all the widgets first of all then make all buttons in same time as functional make it super difficult to track it which button is which function. As an example: When I make settings I would make Bloom button then show if its working in the game or not then jump the resolution button and going that way but The training prepare all the widgets first of all then make all the widgets function in same time its incredible confusing for me. As a result is it worth? Definetaly it worth because i can use couple of things inside the training but whole package i can not use. My suggestion to instructor : Please make it step by step for each page each button to show result , otherwise doing all things in one time it makes impossible to fix for any mistakes (for students) Final words :) Thank you for the instructor to share his knowledge and experience

This was a great course, the pacing was good even for intermediate unreal users such as myself. Full of great tips and tricks, and completes with a nice little portfolio piece one can use. Looking forward to the advanced widgets course!

The course contains valuable information, but there are also many points that raised concerns for me. First, the instructor's pace is very fast, often requiring frequent pauses and rewinds. While clear and concise explanations are beneficial, the instructor seems overly focused on chasing the finished product, forgetting that this course is for the participants. As a result, it lacks kindness towards beginners. The visuals in the start menu and settings menu are cool, but the instructor appeared to show no interest in performance optimization. They extensively used canvas panels, casting, binding, and ticking, repeating copy and paste actions, which I felt were poor design choices from the perspective of UE5 performance. These aspects could likely be optimized further.

There's a lot of good content - however the material is covered rather quickly and may miss some small details here and there. I agree with other reviews that the structure tends to tackle large sets of work at a time before trying things out - where a more incremental approach to building out and testing the functionality can help bring learners along and catch issues that pop up. For example - we spend a tremendous amount of time on the layout of settings menu, but it's several lessons later where we hook the logic up to see how things are working. The structure makes it so that if you miss something (which again, info is covered very quickly), it can be challenging to go back and figure out where you may have missed something. Again - some great info - the instructor clearly knows the systems and seems to have a plan for what they're making, but the structure and organization of the course can make it challenging to follow along.

I want to start by saying that I enjoyed the course, and I also appreciate the short format. I will break down what I liked and what I think could be improved: What I liked: We are shown how to build a somewhat complex and multi layered UI structure, we also get an introduction to all widgets, The camera animation from the widgets was the high point of the course for me, it looks super nice! Sound quality is amazing, all the files needed to complete the course are available from lesson 1, easy to set up and follow along, the instructor explains every single step he is taking in a very detailed manner. What I believe could be improved: I wish we could get a couple of "most used" templates that we could transport to future projects. Also even though its not directly related to UI, most of the processes outside of UI design are inefficient in terms of programming, like the overuse of the tick node, and incredibly long chain of functions from one single event. Setting world variables from character blueprints does not scale very well and the blueprint graphs were very messy, there was a lost opportunity to talk about inheritance when we were creating the items, since the game is small there weren't any performance issues with this project per se, but it could hurt a bigger one. Lastly the course resolution set at 720p had me squinting here and there. Overall a good UI course with great tips! Thank you!

This course is fantastic in regards building the UI Widget knowledge. In some parts I found it a bit too fast and, as a programmer, I am not entirely sure about the efficiency of the blueprint crated in regards the gameplay mechanics. I do understand that creating a course could be a never ending task and in some cases it's better to go fast and cut some corners, but I am the kind of person that wants to understand the reason behind some choices. For example, I found a bit strange that there was a quick solution presented for fixing the sphere popping in the main menu when going back from the gameplay BUT there were no explanation about why that was happening. As a total beginner in Unreal engine, it would have been much appreciated an explanation. Same thing applies to the chapter 35: I appreciate the solution but there are no explanation about why that happens. Overall, I would buy this course again, no doubts about it. :)

I think it was a really good course. Personally, as a beginner, I found the initial explanation for the widgets useful to understand overall what is going on and what we will be using, and then the exercise of creating a simple game a great way to connect everything together in a practical way. I think I learned a lot from the course, and I might have to do it one more time to understand fully how everythings works together properly, but I feel that now I have the tools do start developing something on my own. I would add that the speed and pace is fast, and it assumes that you know at least some basics of Blueprints and Unreal Engine to be able to follow and most importantly understand what is actually going on. In conclusion, it was a great courseand I will continue with the advanced widget course too.

Great course, the instructor starts with videos explaining each category of widgets. This makes it easier to go back and refresh yourself if you need help with a particular widget. Most of the course covers making a simple survival runner game. A simple game with the focus on the design and functions of the user interface. Already looking forward to the instructors advanced widget course,

to be able to understand this course it needs a basic understanding about unreal engine. But otherwise this course might be longer and boring. This course is great like this I hope the other courses you do continue like this ( I hope you make courses).
