Course Description

Learn Visceral Abdominal Massage Techniques for the Abdomen, Digestive System, Pelvic Floor & More

In this Visceral Abdominal Massage course, Mike Everson, Manual Osteopath, Registered Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher, guides you through practical hands-on techniques for working with the abdomen, visceral tissues and surrounding structures.

Visceral abdominal massage is a gentle manual therapy approach traditionally associated with osteopathic and visceral therapy practices. In this course, you’ll learn how to assess the abdominal area, understand the anatomy and physiology of the organs, and incorporate visceral techniques into your massage therapy or manual therapy practice.

The abdomen contains numerous organs, muscles, connective tissues and other structures that interact with movement throughout the body. Understanding these relationships can help manual therapists develop a broader perspective when assessing areas such as the abdomen, diaphragm, pelvis, lower back and shoulders.

You’ll explore how restrictions, changes in tissue mobility, post-surgical adhesions and other factors may be considered when assessing abdominal and referred pain patterns. The course focuses on hands-on assessment and techniques rather than making medical diagnoses.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to assess the abdominal area for areas of restricted tissue mobility

  • Visceral abdominal massage techniques for different areas and organs

  • Techniques involving the diaphragm, liver, gallbladder, bladder and other abdominal structures

  • Anatomy and physiology of the digestive system and abdominal organs

  • How visceral structures relate to surrounding connective tissue and body movement

  • How to incorporate visceral manipulation and abdominal massage techniques into manual therapy

  • Considerations for working with common presentations involving the pelvic floor, abdomen, digestive system and lower back

  • How to develop a broader understanding of local and referred pain patterns

  • Practical techniques that can complement massage therapy and other hands-on manual therapy approaches

Explore the Body from a Visceral Perspective

This course is designed for therapists who want to expand their understanding of the human body beyond muscles and joints.

You’ll learn how to look at the abdomen as part of an interconnected system involving organs, connective tissue, the diaphragm, pelvis and surrounding musculoskeletal structures. This can provide another framework for clinical assessment and hands-on treatment planning.

No because I’m still very satisfied. I have one suggestion, though I would love to practice this on my husband, so I’m gonna have to record the actual lesson on my phone, so my husband doesn’t have to hear the whole course. Other than that this is beyond perfect! I have told a group of Massage friends and I hope they check it out as well.

I'm not done yet. I think it's missing a good introduktion of examination and reasons to work with viceral. but his English is great and explanations good, also the videos quality and to see what happens is good

I am a LMT, already have knowledge of what I have seen so far. I am taking this course to learn more specific areas to work for visceral abdominal massage. Learning the techniques is exactly what I was wanting to learn in this course, I have not tried on clients that complain of stuck ribs, hoping this will all be what they are needing!

I love this course and I will use it for me and my family. The instructor is very well educated and very calm and he explained all material + hands on technique very clearly and professionally. I am very happy I found this course. Pavla

I have not found a better instructor or Contant as it relates to the audio quality of these courses as a recording artist and audio professional. I find it very important to have clear, concise and depth and the audio for the material learning. not to mention the content of this course, and this instructors courses are perfectly laid out to make you want to stick with them and actually watch them and learn instead of just buying more courses.

Some good general knowledge, anatomy, assessment, and treatment options for an often overlooked important part of manual therapy. The course was worth the money and time. Looking forward to practicing with friends and clients. Thank you!

It was super broken down and so informative. I really enjoyed this course. I took off half a star because it would have been nice to have a resource to print. Something with the points of each of the anatomy covered to follow along with during the course and to reference back too when starting treatments!

The visceral abdominal massage course by Michael Everson was excellent. Good review of anatomy. Good techniques and approach to working on the viscera - which is often overlooked in massage therapy. Course covered how massaging the visceral cavity can be of benefit to other areas in the body.

As a professional massage therapist, I'm always interested in developing my skills and knowledge in order to be able to help more people. This was one of the courses I had on my "to study" list for a while, and I'm so glad I came across it! I can't wait to learn all about the visceral massage :-)
