Course Description
Hi,
My name is Mustafa Ozcelikors, a Linux & Android Engineer with more than +7 years of experience working in automotive, who have won Google SOC event in 2017. Here comes a unique beginner to intermediate course that is dedicated to teach Android Open Source Project and Embedded Android concepts to a larger audience.
Visual Embedded Android Training is a unique course in the way that I use slideshows, pen and canvas for theoretical subjects, whereas makes hands-on examples for the practical subjects. I have mastered this technique over the years, teaching my colleagues at work, teaching on Youtube, and now I have decided to move on to Udemy to reach larger audience.
Theoretical subjects are carefully planned and almost for every important subject, multiple block diagrams have been created for better understanding. Almost every figure, schematic, drawing comes from years of experience in the field, not from the internet or from any book. In practical subjects we take a deep dive in exploring AOSP directories and open up a terminal to achieve things within it.
At the end of the course we together will have a custom Android with custom launcher and custom theme, with integrated AIDL service and test application.
You are in this now for the following great content:
Understand embedded Android and Linux software stacks
Get around with Android 11 source code and Soong (Android.bp) build system
Use ASUS Tinkerboard 2 and run Android 11 on it , completely from the source.
Create AIDL interfaces, native C++ Android services, create test applications
Port existing Android Java applications to Soong (Android.bp build system
Understand AOSP folder layout, partitions
Understand and work with SELinux policies
Flash images confidently using fastboot tool
Talk to embedded device confidently using adb tool
Run CTS tests
Log and dump Android system information
Thank you!!
Kindly yours,
Mustafa

I am a Senior Embedded Software Engineer focusing on Linux/Android with more than +8 years of experience working in automotive domain, who have won Google SOC event in 2017. I have +18 publications in well respected journals and conferences and have been a contributor to several open-source projects before.
I work on creating embedded products/tech demos by customizing high level operating systems such as Android and Linux, dealing with build systems such as Bitbake and Soong, porting open-source software and creating custom software (Native C/C++, Qt, Java). Although I am mainly a platform/software guy, in my projects I do graphics design, animation design, and PCB design to do the complete product by myself.
For a while now I have been creating videos with drawings, block diagrams and hands-on examples on the topics that I am most comfortable on. Visit my Udemy, Youtube, or personal web page for more details on my work.

- Some steps not explained in details like in C++ Native Services - Some parts of the code are attached and copied/pasted without explanation - Content is poor and contains shallow information

I lacked knowledge about AOSP, especially the part about drivers and kernels, and this course helped me to grasp that too and fill the missing puzzle. With practical experience the lecturer passed his knowledge with ease.

Highly recommended. A good AOSP instructor is hard to find before purchasing this course. I was watching YouTube videos provided by the same instructor, and I was really impressed with the content that he put on that channel, which made me decide to buy this.

Starting from scratch, it walks through the fundamentals and demonstrates how to develop a real embedded software application project step by step. It's a valuable resource for design engineers, providing insights into the system and software architecture as well. Many thanks to Mustafa for his efforts. An updated version of the video with new Android releases and Android Automotive content would further enhance the value of this rare example and make it stand out even more. Wishing continued success!

Seems fine so far. From other programming work, there's in between stuff: ie, failure won't kill you or damage anything, but something goes wrong with your car and you're stuck on the side of a road, or less severe - the entertainment system stopped working and it just results in annoyance. no biggie.

This is one of the best course I ever saw on AOSP. This is the perfect course to understand end to end. Mustafa can you please add a videos on versioning system. Once the AOSP is customized how can we maintain it. Is there any standard methods which needs to be followed. But the course is really really amazing.

It would be better, if we can have separate training session for the end to end flow HAL Driver integration from user space till to the boot and the driver interaction through user space. Because this gives good practical exercise to the learners.

A really great course and a good introduction into AOSP. Lectures were for the most part easy to follow along and it is clear that the lecturer is an expert in this field. I felt that Lecture 38 and error debugging in general could have been improved. A lot of cases it was just *cut* and then the problem is fixed and in lecture 38 where a problem was solved live, it was not a real issue and the solution was just to comment out a couple lines. Thank you for the great course!

I really liked this course. It gives you a very good overview if you are new into AOSP! There are some mistakes in the lectures and he goes back and fixes them which makes you learn ever better since you can see how he fault traces the errors. Good mix of looking into the code and graphical lectures!

It is fortunate to find exactly what I was looking for, some android build tutorial for Android 11. Information was of utmost help to introduce a Linux power user to Android. It would help if one is familiar with Linux, not necessarily embedded. To be honest, there were some hiccups with unfamiliar spelling for me, nothing serious though (e.g. "gee-an-you" rather than "gunu" for GNU).
