Vocal Workouts #1: SINGING SIMPLIFIED (Udemy.com)
The Singing Simplified #1 Course Companion: 10, 30-minute vocal exercise sessions

Our take
Based on the ratings of 617 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2019. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a practice course, not a lecture course. Steve Glazer built it as the workbook for his Singing Simplified #1 class. There are ten workouts, each with warmups, 10 to 12 exercises and a warm down, and every exercise is demonstrated in full. The syllabus shows 101 lectures and about four hours in total, so each workout runs roughly 17 to 26 minutes, a bit shorter than the 30 the description promises. It is pitched at beginner to intermediate singers, though one experienced reviewer still uses it.
Reviewers keep coming back to the same things. He gets straight to the exercises with little theory, and his analogies help describe how a technique should feel. Students call him down to earth, friendly and clear. Several say they heard progress quickly, with more range and power, and one uses the warmups before working on songs. Criticism is thin. Of 617 ratings, 492 are five stars and only four are one or two. Sixteen are three stars, but the sampled reviews do not say why.
The course was last updated in 2019. That matters little here, since breath and tone exercises do not go out of date like software. Roughly 8,300 students have enrolled. One reviewer figures it holds hundreds of hours of practice, which is a fair way to think about the value. The instructor says it is best after starting the parent course, though basic singing experience is enough. It suits people who want something to sing along with every day.
Pros
- Every exercise is demonstrated in full, so singers copy along instead of guessing
- Ten self-contained workouts of roughly 17 to 26 minutes, easy to fit into a day
- Reviewers like the analogies Glazer uses to describe how a technique should feel
- Little theory and straight to practice; reviewers report more range and power
Cons
- Last updated in 2019, so nothing here reflects newer material from the instructor
- Workouts run about 17 to 26 minutes, shorter than the 30 minutes the description promises
- Light on theory, with no quizzes, just drills to follow; best taken after Singing Simplified #1
These are excellent daily workouts that has helped me a lot to increase my vocal range and my singing and vocal performance in general. Can highly recommend it.
Pitched at beginner to intermediate; basic singing experience helps, but natural talent is not required.

Hi There! My name is Steve Glazer.
I’ve been a full-time professional singer, guitarist and music coach for two decades. I'm also a published songwriter.
I was personally trained by the same elite vocal coach that taught some of the biggest musical icons in the world.
I’ve been a signed artist to a great Indie label in Austin, TX (Fiesta Red Records) and I’ve performed in major cities all around the United States.
I founded STRUM Music School in Austin, TX where we helped hundreds of aspiring musicians reach their goals and skyrocket their abilities beyond what they ever thought possible. I sold STRUM in 2015 to pursue teaching the rest of the world how to sing. :)

I have several of Steve's courses and I love them all. He explains everything clearly and in a very friendly matter. I'm not a beginner and I understand that he knows what he's talking about and gives very good advise. I use the warmups before practising some songs that I'm learning.

Thanks so much, this is exactly what I needed. Great quality for the price. It's actually almost for free if you are an ambitious singer who needs something to get to the next level if you think about it, I can easily get hunderds of hours worth out of this. His style is down to earth but lighthearted and professional. 10/10.

Great videos! Really good exercises! My voice has gotten much stronger. The author REALLY needs to do a section with ONLY exercises! No talking or instruction. One could argue that this is what mp3s are for but this is a video learning series. It would take a couple editing hours to make the course waaaaay better!!

Excellent course so far. Great teacher. I sing in a "weekend band" and have never had any training, so this is just what I was looking for so far

A great selection of over a hundred exercises for warming up, warming down to help strengthen voice and ensure you can sing well and for a long long time. I am 82 and my voice feels so much better since working through the course. Will continue to use it on a daily basis especially while in lockdown.

This is an awesome course. The workouts have done wonders for my singing voice. I have hit notes I never thought I could. I have learned how to tune my falsetto and use vibrato. I have tried other courses and they seem to be too complex for what I need. But don't kid yourself. This is simplifies but does an amazing job. The instructor is clear and easy to understand. This is awesome.

This is the most clear and accurate step by step workouts for singing I’ve ever found. If you are interested in singing or becoming a better singer this guys courses are the best. Also, this is coming from someone who has tried at least a dozen different online vocal courses. As long as you pay attention, take the time to learn the techniques, and follow his instructions you will see dramatic improvements in a short time. Thanks so much for your work!

I was hoping that Steve Glazer would have a continuing course and I was excited to see this come out. It does not disappoint. So far I am really enjoying the instruction. He makes things very clear and easy to follow. It is obvious that there is a lot of thought and planning that goes into these videos.
