As far as I'm concerned, this course is the gold standard for songwriting instruction on Udemy. Having completed hundreds of courses on Udemy, I don't give praise lightly—Steve Glazer’s course is simply outstanding. Steve is engaging, crystal clear, and remarkably practical. His step-by-step approach demystifies the entire songwriting process, giving you the exact instruction you need to move from initial idea to finished piece. On top of that, the supplemental resources are second to none. They are genuinely the most helpful materials I’ve ever seen attached to a course. If you have basic piano or guitar skills and want to write real songs with confidence, buy this course. You won’t regret it.

I really enjoyed this course. It not only showes you the process of songwriting, but also gives you insides into the basic music theory behind it, such as learning what a key is and how to build chords and their progressions, switching between keys etc. Steve did a fantastic job at presenting us with examples on the piano and on the guitar separately. Hence, you also get some piano and guitar lessons as well. All in all, I am very pleased with this course and hope that it gets the recognition it deserves. Thank you very much, Steve, for this amazing course you have provided us with!

I thought it would be a little more in depth. It has some good information about how to start writing songs, but I have found better courses for the same price that go much more in depth.

I am very happy following and finishing this course. I made my first song ever. This is the best course I found on Udemy (and also on the rest of the internet) for making a song. I learned a lot, and I cannot cover it all in this review. I really like to learn to play major and minor keys on the guitar in other ways I never found on the internet. I learned about song structure, like introduction - verse - chorus. The teacher showed a way to make a complete song, and that is great, because wherever I look, most courses talk about those kind of things, but at the end of those courses I am still puzzled.

learning learning the basics of Music, Learning chord progressions, learning to write lyrics and hooks and then learning song structure and by the time you are finished with the class you have written a song. And I like the song that I wrote. So I'm very happy with the class. Steve is an excellent teacher. He goes into just the right amount of detail and sprinkles it with tips and hints and things that would have taken years to learn otherwise. Five stars Plus

Steve doesn't waste time, and dives right into the songwriting process, guiding the student in every step. I'm an amateur songwriter, and I already knew most of the stuff in this course, but I still found some new techniques to add to my songwriting toolkit, especially the one about using specific melodic intervals to sing on top of an accented beat. This is by far, the best songwriting course I've taken here on Udemy.

I went through the course without writing a song, but now I'm stoked to go back through the process and actually write one. This thinking is a huge stretch for me to actually think I can write a song. My initial intention was to just to grab a few bits of practical music theory, but I came away with so much more. Thank you Steve; you're a great instructor. I can't wait to jump into your strumming and vocal courses I recently purchased.

A very excellent course. I have very little knowledge about music theory and buying this course really helps. I had a lot of aha moments where I was able to connect those bits of theory I learned in the past. I would suggest you complement these lessons with Perfecto de Castro's lessons in Youtube. Nonetheless, this course is comprehensive already but easy to understand for beginners. Good luck and have fun! Thank you for sharing your knowledge Steve. :)

Just finished this great course. And believe it or not... i DID write my first song! It is not a good one, but still...! A big thanks to the instructor for this directly applicable course. Great instructions, great tips. And a funny song at the end that literally sums up every step of the course. Great idea! Highly recommended for people that want to write a song and don't know where to start! If there is anything negative to say, then it would be that I would like to see "problem solving". For example: What to do when one block does not fit seamlessly into the next. That kind of stuff... Thanks again Mr. Glazer for a very interesting course!
