WooCommerce for Beginners - Build Your WordPress Store Fast (Udemy.com)

Learn how to set up and manage a complete WooCommerce store on WordPress — from adding products to payments and shipping

Created by: Fatah Gabrial

Last updated June 2025

Our take

Based on the ratings of 240 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in June 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is a short, settings-by-settings tour of WooCommerce, the free store plugin for WordPress. Fatah Gabrial walks through installing it, adding physical and digital products, setting up variations, taking payments through PayPal, Stripe or cash on delivery, and sorting out shipping zones. It ends with test orders, reports and coupons. The whole thing runs about an hour across 28 lectures in five sections, so it is a quick orientation, not a full store build. It assumes you already have a WordPress site, live or local, and know how to install a plugin.

Reviewers praise the clarity and the brevity. One started with no prior knowledge and says everything is explained clearly, another applied the lessons straight away to a site they maintain, and a third calls the presenter brief and concise. Of 240 ratings, 190 are four or five stars. The complaints are small but real. One student wants the instructor to explain why he skips certain options, not just which ones he clicks. A German-speaking reviewer pointed out that the course is English only. There are no quizzes or exercises, so any practice happens on the student's own site.

With more than 31,000 students and a 4.3 rating, it has found its audience, and it was last updated in June 2025, which matters for a plugin whose screens change. It suits freelancers setting up a basic shop for a client, and owners who installed WooCommerce and got lost in the settings. Anyone after theme design, SEO or marketing, or a deeper build with real projects, will need another course alongside it.

Best forWordPress owners who want a quick, one-sitting tour of the main WooCommerce settings before opening a shop.
Skip it ifYou want design, SEO, marketing or hosting help, or quizzes and exercises to practice with.

Pros

  • Covers the whole admin in about an hour, from first install to test orders and coupons
  • Reviewers call the steps clear, including one who started with no prior knowledge
  • Syllabus covers variable products, payment gateways and shipping zones
  • Updated June 2025, with about 190 of 240 ratings at four or five stars

Cons

  • Only about an hour in total, so each topic gets limited time and depth
  • No quizzes, exercises or projects, so nothing checks what you have learned
  • One reviewer wanted more explanation of why the instructor skips or clicks certain options
Had no prior knowledge before starting this course and have already leaned so much. Everything is explained clearly. Great job!

Fatah Gabrial

Hello! I'm Fatah Gabrial, an enthusiastic web development instructor passionate about teaching practical skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP and MySQL. With decades of experience in web design and development, I've built thousands of projects, including custom PHP scripts and WordPress themes used by various companies.

My journey into teaching began during the Covid-19 pandemic when traditional training institutes closed their doors. I transitioned to online platforms like many others, but I sought a more efficient way to share my knowledge. That's when I discovered Udemy, and I was inspired to create courses that could empower learners by teaching once and reaching many.

As a self-taught web designer and developer, I believe in a hands-on approach to learning. My teaching philosophy follows the 80/20 rule, where 80% of my courses focus on practical applications, while only 20% covers theory. This method ensures that my students gain the essential skills needed to excel in the ever-evolving world of web development.

By Bless Gavino on 8/27/2020

It was ok. I think the speaker needs to explain more details. For example, if he does not want to click something, he needs to explain why.

By Tinbilina on 8/11/2020

It really helped as I was trying to build my online store using WooCommerce. Although I expected some additional points, such as useful plugins related to the online store, the course was precise, educational and easy to follow.
