Ken Schultz

Ken is the creator of the EasyDSLR Digital Photography Course. Ken setup a blog on digital photography in December 2010 and helped hundreds of new DSLR buyers with an eBook, "Digital SLR Buyer's Guide." After many questions from new DSLR buyers, Ken realized that a Basic DSLR course was needed to fill the gaps in photography knowledge required to get great photos with a DSLR. After 8 months of production, EasyDSLR was launched (September 2011).
His courses condense 30 years of Ken's photojournalism and his in-the-field experience capturing images of international travel, ocean life through his career as a marine biologist and as a professional wedding photographer into a layman's course for photography newcomers. It's not for Professionals but rather for those with minimal background in photography or those making the transition from film SLR cameras to Digital SLR cameras and Mirrorless cameras.
Ken's "in the trenches" background gives him a unique perspective enabling him to explain photographic principles in simple terms. Photography is an Art as well as being technical. Ken's talent is being able to educate and inspire without overloading the viewer with too much technical jargon.
After much enquiring from former students Ken launched Digital Photography Insiders - DPinsiders - which is a Unique Journey of Photographic Discovery. The Adobe Lightroom for Beginners was extracted from DPinsiders Month 4 and is now a Standalone Fast Track for learning Lightroom.

Much better. Hope to see how we manage 'corrected' versions. Do they all turn into JPEGs? If we need to export them to FB or a page layout, they will need to be in JPEG. How to you manage the files?

This course was not at all what I expected from the previews. Very unorganized and not covering the basics of lightroom at all. Pleasant photographer but this course followed no logical outline.

I liked very much both the course and the instructor!!It was very illuminating!!

I like Ken's approach a lot. I would have liked more detail in the develop module. That said, I feel like I got the 80 percent of the 20 percent of the tools, that he spoke of early on. Good course and great presentation.Would highly recommend for any Lightroom beginner.

Excellent course, especially with a little base knowledge of what Lightroom is and does. Love the bite size videos that allow you to go into LR and test what has just been presented. Have to agree with the 80/20 principle so as not to get swamped.

I was expecting a more step by step approach. I am finding it vague and not practical enough.

I CAN NOT SAY I DID NOT GET SOMETHING FROM THE COURSE. I DID. WHAT BOTHERED ME WAS TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE CURSER WHEN YOU WERE EXPLAINING DIFFERENT THINGS. MAYBE I WAS EXPECTING TO MUCH AS THIS WAS MY FIRST LIGHTROOM COURSE. I WILL REVIEW IT AGAIN. THANK YOU.

I've been using Lightroom for a year now. This course has shown me things that I didn't know learning on my own. Great! I loved this class. Now, If I can only remember it all. Thank you very much. Good job!

Many sections are so very short, I guess I was looking for an even more detailed explanation, but perhaps when it is all over, the sum of the total will be perfect.

I feel that, even though I haven't finished the course yet, I have had value for money and then some. Thorough explanations as well as covering the all of the essentials of lightroom.EDIT: finished the course. I stand by my previous statement

Course is a very good primer course. However, some sections could use a deeper dive into the information. Also, a printout of the shortcut key strokes would be helpful. This presentation was fairly broad based but slightly slanting more towards those going to be professional photographers. It would have been nice to have sections on photos at the beach (Very bright), photos in tropical rain forests (Dark), photos indoors Wedding under interior lighting, etc. Perhaps suggestions on starting camera setting for those situations so the Lightroom adjustments wouldn't need to be too radical. Is it possible to save the tutorials on my hard drive so I can refer to them later?Excellent course overall.

Awesome Course! Well laid out and presented in such a way that beginner users will feel confident using Lightroom.
