Adobe XD Masterclass: Learn Web Design UI & UX Design (Udemy.com)

Complete course for web design in Adobe XD! You'll look like a superstar designer, even if you're a beginner!

Created by: Cristian Barin

Last updated January 2025

Our take

Based on the ratings of 1,171 students and a sample of their written reviews, the syllabus, the course as of January 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.

Chris Barin's course is really a web design course that happens to use Adobe XD. The first four sections cover the tool itself, then the syllabus moves through a first web project, responsive layouts, prototyping, three long sections on design principles, and a complete responsive website built page by page. It runs about 17 hours across 197 lectures, and was last updated in January 2025. It suits beginners who want to design websites and hand them to a developer. People hoping for a mobile app or a full UX curriculum will find less here than the title suggests.

Reviewers like Barin's teaching. Several with no design background say he explains things in a way that's easy to follow, and one student credited the gradual move from small challenges into real web design for never feeling overwhelmed. A 25-year agency designer praised the sections on design rules and the money side of the job. The complaints are mild but real. One three-star reviewer expected complete UI and UX training and was let down when the course assumed a coder would take over halfway. Another was confused about how to submit projects. With one quiz and no assignments, practice is mostly working along with the videos.

Among the XD courses we list, this is the one aimed at full websites rather than apps; a mobile app course sits beside it if phones are your goal. Around 6,000 students and 1,171 reviews at 4.7 stars, with 93 percent giving four or five, is a strong record for a paid course on a niche tool. Recommended for aspiring web designers who will use XD.

Best forBeginners who want to design full responsive websites in XD and hand clean files to a developer.
Skip it ifYou want mobile app design or a proper UX curriculum; this is web design first, and coding is left to someone else.

Pros

  • Builds from tool basics to a complete responsive website with interior pages and developer handoff.
  • Three long sections on design principles and what makes a good web designer, not just XD buttons and menus.
  • Beginners with zero design background say Barin's explanations are easy to follow.
  • Refreshed in January 2025, with source .xd files and workbooks included.

Cons

  • Despite the title, it is web design first; mobile app and deeper UX coverage is thin.
  • Only one quiz and no assignments, and one reviewer was confused about how to submit projects.
  • Won't run on Windows 7 or 8, and the second half assumes a developer will code the design.
As someone who has no web design experience, I found this course to be extremely helpful. Chris explains everything very well in a way that is easy to understand and follow.

Listed as all levels, and beginners are the sweet spot; one reviewer who already knew XD says they still learned plenty.

I wanted to learn UI/UX design and out of all courses here on Udemy I chose this one. My reason for choosing this course was - Chris's lectures on his YouTube channel, his pace while teaching, and definitely the Romanian accent(I love it). The course started with fun and engaging challenges and we then gradually walked into the realm of web design, this transition was so smooth that I didn't feel overwhelmed or burdened at any point in this course. The Q&A response felt so genuine as the answers provided were brief and detailed. I have never completed any course this fast. Thank you Chris and Team❤️.

This course was absolutely amazing and it was extremely good. I got to learn so much and it was very interesting to learn. I loved all the concepts and this course is amazing since it doesnt require any special skills like technical skills Also the instructor Chris did a phenomenal job by taking his time and explaining every minute thing in detail! I absolutely loved this course and I am very happy for taking up this course Thank you!

The course is brilliant and the instructor too. The content was comprehensive though it is not running for long hours(not boring). So that's why I chose this course due to its content and medium duration. However, I followed step by step and felt like I am an expert in Adobe XD. This helped me to prepare for myBusiness Analyst interview in the area of prototyping and UXD. You are an amazing instructor, and I appreciate your teaching style. Overall I had a great learning experience. Thanks & good luck.

Chris Barin’s XD teachings on the vast intricacies of XD usage is second to none! Very comprehensive. The techniques learned will surely help my design skills and enable a more positive response from future clients. The best part of the course is when Chris’s gives and explains his personal touch. Chris after teaching the design and XD shortcut keys, explains (via his vast business experience) when to use and why to use these techniques. That is where the real value is to be found in this course. The UX chapter is out of this world. Chris’s approach (especially on this chapter) shows the power of better UX designs and the consequences to businesses and sales bottom lines. Excellent. Do this course if you want to improve your design skills with adobe XD.

This is my fourth course to complete with Cris, he is really good at what he does. Following his tips and exercises you do not need any other design courses. At first I learned Photoshop with Cris so this course wasn’t so challenging for me. Since I was using an old version of Photoshop, CS6 to be specific, Adobe XD really makes life easier and you can complete things faster. I highly recommend this course and any other design course with Cris. Thanks Cris, I will forever be thankful.

You are a great Mentor Chris and learning Adobe XD was so easy through this course but I pitched into this course expecting to learn UI and UX completely as the title suggest. I was disappointed after knowing that a coder to be involved after learning this content in the halfway. Still I continued and completed the entire course as the content provided here is Top Class.

Awesome experience. I have several of your courses and I have to say you are a great instructor. I’ve tried another course on XD. I rather not say which one. But I didn’t get half way through. I found that you had the same course. So much more valuable content. I thank you and will be getting more of your courses. I have 5 in total. Thanks for you efforts and time to do a great job.

As am coming from all Chris Photoshop design courses i can tell that at start it was a bit harder to adjust to XD. As i was trying to use some of Photoshop tools and hotkeys. But now i can say, that with this course i got some basic knowlage about how XD works. I was really amazed how easy it is to make webdesign in XD. And ofcaurse thank you Chris for such amazing first steps into XD. Easy to understand and work along.

By Ameya Lahurikar on 9/30/2020

I knew nothing about XD, but by your teaching approach i have a good hand at using XD. Teaching it from the basics and then to adavanced level you have done a good job. One thing i want to add is, should have been much better if you have added more projects like web/app design . Overall Nice course.

I waited util I was about 70% of the way through the course to leave a rating. I have never used Adobe XD prior to this course. This course is for beginners. If you have used adobe xd before, you will likely learn little to nothing from this course. This course is about 10 hours long and you can expect to spend ~20 hours learning. I had to pause and unpause many times to follow along. After learning this course I expect most people to be able to wireframe/prototype a professional looking app/website fairly easily. The instructor has clearly put in great effort into this course. One downside, he said there would be a workbook but I didn't find it. Even with out the workbook, this course is 9.5/10. I would recommend this course for all beginners. Edit: I finished the course. I change my rating to 5/5 stars.
