Our take
Based on the ratings of 121 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in November 2023. No course pays to be reviewed.
Nima Tahami's course is a project-based walk through Adobe XD that runs about 8 hours across 106 lectures. Instead of a tour of every menu, most of the time goes into one fictional client, a food ordering app called Healthy Bites. Students build the mobile mockup screen by screen, turn it into a clickable prototype, then design a landing page for the same brand. It's aimed at people who have never opened XD, and the reviews back that up: several students say they knew nothing about XD going in and could still follow along.
The praise is consistent. Students call the explanations clear and the pace appropriate, and they like that the project is fun to follow rather than abstract. An experienced graphic designer noted that if you already know Illustrator or InDesign, the first three sections are skippable, but everything from the app design onward was worth it. The complaints are small but real. The videos top out at 720p, and three separate reviewers complain about the resolution; one says full screen strains the eyes. One reviewer found a lecture with no audio or subtitles. Q&A speed is mixed: one student called it fast, another called it poor.
The course was last updated in November 2023, close to three years ago, and there are no quizzes and only one assignment, so practice comes down to keeping up with the project. It is a small audience, 488 students and 121 reviews, but 74 of those reviews are five stars and the 4.6 rating holds up. For anyone who wants a single guided project from blank canvas to shareable prototype, it's a sensible pick. Anyone after broader UX theory should look at the neighbouring courses instead.
Pros
- One continuous project, the Healthy Bites app, takes a wireframe through to a shareable clickable prototype
- Reviewers say Nima Tahami explains clearly and paces the lessons for true beginners
- Covers a landing page as well as the mobile app, so both web and app layouts get practice
- Rating breakdown is heavily positive: 74 of 121 reviews give five stars
Cons
- Videos top out at 720p and three reviewers complain the resolution looks blurry or strains the eyes
- Last updated November 2023, with no quizzes and just one assignment
- One reviewer reports a lecture with no audio, and Q&A response times get mixed reports
Nima explains the content in an understandable way and at an appropriate pace. The only downside for me is the resolution of the videos with a maximum resolution of 720p.
Genuinely beginner: only a computer is required, though Illustrator users can skip the first three sections.

I like the content of the course very much. Nima explains the content in an understandable way and at an appropriate pace. The only downside for me is the resolution of the videos with a maximum resolution of 720p. In full screen mode, the image quality is too poor for me and strains my eyes. Otherwise, I would rate it with full marks.

As an experienced graphic designer I wanted to update my skillset to include understanding the basics of XD and Interface Design. If you are familiar with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, the first three sections in this course are not so necessary, but very helpful if you are new to these types of programs. I found Section Three onwards very informative and gave me a great starting point to introduce Adobe XD into my skillset. Very clear, concise and structured, not overlabouring points yet very thorough at the same time. Recommended!

I just like the way the instructor took the course from the scratch even if you never knew anything about XD, you'll definitely follow along.

Its a very nice and fantastic course but the response time on Q&A is poor and I think you can work on that. Cheers
