Many UNIX utilities generates rows and columns of information. AWK is an excellent tool for processing these rows and columns, and is easier to use AWK than most conventional programming languages. It can be considered to be a pseudo-C interpretor, as it understands the same arithmatic operators as C. AWK also has string manipulation functions, so it can search for particular strings and modify the output. great course !!!! i have no idea why certain people have been bashing this course saying its too basic i work as an application support / DevOps engineer and i need awk,sed,grep on a daily basis to parse large log files & analyse large csv files and this was the perfect course for me and yes the shell scripting part is quite basic but thats just introductory & a bonus for newbies in shell scripting to give them an overview on conditions, loops & functions etc. which is paramount in any programming language; when i think of the times when i failed interviews for simple things like this, it pisses me off, i wish i found this course earlier ... the reason i gave it a 4** is because the teacher has not responded to any of my queries yet .... (Hopefully soon :) but overall its a solid 5*** , if the tutor was quite ACTIVE in responding to students queries then its will be a definite 5***

I work in with AIX Unix 7.1 this is useful. I like that the videos are short and cover only one or two specific topics/commands, etc.

The course doesn't justify the title Advance....
Its an intermediate level course and more over there are too little practise questions . i would request to add more exercise questions and teach with one real time scenarios with one basic entire awk command was taught on one basic file rather than giving real time scenario which i assumed before buying the course seeeing the title
