Course Description

Learn Modern IASTM & Gua Sha from a Clinician Who Uses It Every Day

I'm Mark Perren-Jones, a best-selling massage instructor, pain specialist, and Approved Continuing Education Provider with over 30 years of clinical experience treating everyone from elite athletes to celebrities and Presidents.

In this course, I'll show you how I use modern Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), also known as Gua Sha, to achieve outstanding clinical results without relying on aggressive, outdated techniques.

This isn't another course about scraping harder.

It's about treating smarter.

The Evidence-Based Approach to Better Results

Many therapists were taught that more pressure, bruising, and redness produce better outcomes.

Modern pain science tells us otherwise.

You'll learn how to use IASTM safely, comfortably and effectively while understanding the science behind pain, tissue sensitivity, and why these techniques work so well when used correctly.

What You'll Learn

  • A complete IASTM/Gua Sha treatment system you can immediately use with clients.

  • When to use IASTM—and when not to.

  • Modern pain science explained in simple, practical language.

  • How to combine IASTM with massage and manual therapy for superior outcomes.

  • Treatment protocols for common pain and movement problems.

  • How to achieve excellent results without excessive pressure or tissue damage.

Why Therapists Love IASTM

  • Delivers excellent clinical results.

  • Saves stress on your hands and thumbs.

  • Easy to learn and immediately apply.

  • Requires inexpensive tools.

  • Fits easily into almost any massage or manual therapy treatment.

  • Massage therapists.

  • Manual therapists.

As always, Mark leaves you with more than you counted on. Loved the parts on flossing (I had never heard of it) and tying it all together with gua sha, taping and flossing!

I’ve done quite a few of Marks courses now and his IASTM course has delivered as usual. His teaching style makes you feel like you’ve completed an in person course. No question goes unanswered, everything you need to know is covered. Thanks again

Very detailed and clear instruction, The professionalism and very well put way of teaching makes learning IASTM/Gua Sha much easier. This is my second course taken by Mark and both gave me a very clear understanding of the modality. I will be looking into more of his courses in the future.

This class was beyond my expectations. I thought I would only learn about Gua Sha but it was SO much more. literally wish my massage school taught this well. LOL... Seriously tho, don't hesitate to take this one.

BPS inclusion is very important (to tx), I agree, along with positive clinic atmosphere, intake, assessment, etc. But I'd like more focus (time over all) on techniques for IASTM. That said, lots of valuable information!

By Jessie Callaghan on 12/2/2024

A bit of conflict on the research as it is based on the manipulation of joints and the facia. This is not something that LMTs have much effect on. The article referenced is clearly discussing manual therapists that specialize in working on the joints and fascia such as chiropractors and orthopedic physical therapists. The ability to re-train the nerves through mind-body connection is now scientifically accepted and has been assumed for a long time. That's the only major effect of the lighter massage. There is research on deep tissue helping with blood flow to the muscles in an area, activating certain blasts (cells that make cells) such as fibroblasts, long term immune system effects, and more. But assuming that deep tissue does not have a physiological effect from a meta-analysis opinion article (still uses research!) about joints and fascia is a stretch. The argument and article is valid within the scope it is discussing: joints and fascia. Otherwise, this course is easy to follow. Well patterned. Well-spoken. Things are repeated that should be. The instructor is vibrant enough to be engaging without being overbearing. Its good. I learned some things. Which is rare for the number of years I have been doing this.

I enjoyed this course on IASTM/Gua Sha. The instructor is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I feel confident to add this technique to my current massage "tool kit".

By Sinem Sekercan on 7/2/2024

If you have an ongoing massage practice, this course will be a wonderful complement. Detailed explanations, extra PDF resources to support the course and implementation of the theory in videos are all of great help. Trust me your clients will thank you after you implement what you have learnt here :)

By Andre Jones on 6/22/2024

I really enjoyed this course! I was engaged throughout and I'm now ready to apply the skills with my clients. I highly recommend this course to beginners or advanced GuaSha users.
