Course Description
Instructor Info
Emiel Sleegers always had love for video games and when he was young, he started using Unity3D for programming but he found himself gravitating more towards the art of making games. Now he is currently working as an environment artist in Ubisoft. He contributed to creating AAA games such as Forza Horizon 3 and The Division 2. His all time favorite game is The Last of Us and that video game is what inspired him to want to work in the game industry. His advice for beginner artists is to focus on one aspect of gaming that they are passionate about, stick to it and get better at it. His hobbies include anything related to games or films, whether it be working on personal projects, freelance work or going out for movies.

The outcome of this course is impressive, the instructor is very knowledgeable. However, if you want to follow this course step by step then you will become frustrated very quickly. For example the "Creating our master material" section is a massive 6hr 14min long. If you want to follow the whole creation process step-by-step you will need about 30 hours on that alone. This is because you will need to stop the video every couple of seconds to replicate what the instructor is doing. Sometimes he is clicking so fast that you need to slow the video down to 0.5 just to see what he did. Often you will spend 20 minutes working on one section of nodes only to find out at the end it wasn't necessary because he will take a different path. This was very very frustrating. My recommendation is to watch the material creation without pausing the video, and without following along, and at the end of it just use the material he has created, or you will never finish this course. As has been previously mentioned here in the comments, this whole course could easily have been packed into 8 hours. For that I subtract 2 stars. I subtract another star because the course is not supported in any way at all. Questions are never answered and it has been that way for a good year now. Think about this before purchasing this course.

This tutorial is very good. I've learned many new stuff. I am happy with it

A lot of valuable knowledge. Unreal, Zbrush, Designer (Wow, programming for a graphic designer 0.0), shown and explained in a very good way, even for a first time contact with them. In the case of Blender, many things can be done easier and faster than in the tutorial. You can see lack of sophistication.

The topic is exactly what I was looking for. The presentation, unfortunately, is anything but. The teacher doesn't seem to have an actual plan about what he's doing there. There is a lot of rambling, lost train of thought, incoherent sentences, and if he actually explains why he does something, the explanation comes three or four times. Plus, someone who does a Blender course, but starts it out with and repeatedly reaffirms that he's not actually used to Blender because at work they use 3DS Max... that's not helpful for the students, that's bordering on rude. He may be a professional at what he does for Ubisoft, but as a teacher I can def not recommend him.

Although the course is really good and the teacher is good, the title is a lie as he uses a variety of different programs when he could have just used blender. Should drop the "...in blender" from the title in my opinion. He does create nice stuff with the programs he uses, although it would have been nice if he stuck to Blender whenever possible, even if the quality suffers.

Das sind für mich schöne Bilder, echte 3d Kunst. Alles ist sehr gut und verständlich erklärt. Danke!

Amazing course! I learned so much. I do recommend watching some basic tutorials in youtube for the softwares, since this is not exactly a beginners course. But truly truly good, thank you for it!
By David Figge on 5/21/2020
This course is amazing if you want to start building up your own environment inside Unreal Engine 4 from scratch. It is more an intermediate level, but even beginners can follow along but have to fill in the basic gaps seperately by themselves. The author has all the knowleges because of his profession. Learning such stuff directly from a game artist is great. Most issues will be fixed off camera, but the author will explain every step so you can fix the problem by yourselve afterwards. I've been waiting for a course like this for a long time and now it's here. THANK YOU!
